Strong Lead‐Free Bioinspired Piezoceramics for Durable Energy Transducers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We fabricated brick‐and‐mortar lead‐free piezoceramics with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 monocrystal platelets as bricks and amorphous silica as mortar. The alignment of the bricks and the presence of the amorphous silica led to anisotropic residual stresses. These residual stresses increase the samples toughness, strength and durability while the brick alignment ...

Operando Tracking of Oxygen‐Vacancy Dynamics and Negative Capacitance in Ca‐Doped BiFeO3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Operando electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, combined with electrocoloration, enables a direct correlation between real‐space ionic redistribution and the corresponding frequency‐domain electrical response. In lateral Ca‐doped BiFeO3 devices, time‐resolved impedance snapshots capture the evolution from bulk‐dominated mixed conduction to an ...

Highly efficient lead zirconate titanate ring modulator

open access: yesAPL Photonics
Advanced photonic integrated circuits require large-scale integration of high-speed electro-optic (EO) functional components on a chip. Low power consumption and high operation speed are thus key metrics for almost all integrated EO devices.

A New Low-Expansion Composite in Lead Iron Niobate-Lead Titanate System

open access: yesActive and Passive Electronic Components, 1997
A composite prepared between lead titanate (PT) and lead iron niobate (PFN) exhibits low thermal expansion coefficient (α) over the temperature range 300–673K.

Preparation and characterization of PbTi0(3) ceramics modified by a natural mixture of rare earth oxides of xenotime [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2013
Lead titanate ceramics modified by xenotime (Xm) with nominal composition (Pb, Xm)TiO3, Xm 10 or 15 mol %, were prepared by the conventional oxide mixture technique. Xenotime is a natural mineral consisting of a mixture of rare earth oxides.

The preparation of a novel layered lead titanate and its conversion to the perovskite lead titanate PbTiO3 [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research Bulletin, 2001
A novel layered lead titanate with the approximate composition PbTiO2(CO3)0.3(NO3)0.35(OH) has been synthesized hydrothermally under acidic conditions. The structure has been solved and refined from X-ray and neutron powder diffraction data in the space group P -3 1 m, with cell dimensions a = 5.1787(5) Å and c = 8.5222(7) Å.

An Edible Chitosan‐Based Acoustic Sensor for Sound‐Responsive Actuation in Edible Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an edible acoustic sensor for robotic food and edible robotics. Built from a chitosan piezoelectric film between gold electrodes, the sensor enables acoustic communication through ON/OFF keying. Integrated into an edible robot with pneumatically actuated arms and neck, it responds to high‐frequency tones.

Incorporation of dysprosium ions into PbTiO3 ferroelectric ceramic system [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Dielectrics, 2015
A structural analysis concerning the incorporation of dysprosium into A- and/or B-sites of the lead titanate is shown. The two "boundary" refinements are presented, i.e., Dy2+ substitutes for Pb2+ (Dy3+ substitutes for Ti4+) and Dy3+ substitutes for Pb2+
