Numerical simulation of flow characteristics behind the aerodynamic performances on an airfoil with leading edge protuberances

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2017
This article presents a numerical investigation of the effects of leading-edge protuberances on airfoil stall and post-stall performance. An improved delayed detached eddy simulation (IDDES) method was adopted.

Leading-edge pressure measurements of airfoil vortex interaction [PDF]

open access: yes
Experimental pressure-differential measurements made at 10% chord of an airfoil-vortex interaction are presented. A line vortex was oscillated over an airfoil perpendicular to the span and parallel to the chord.

Comparison of vortex lattice predicted forces with wind tunnel experiments for the F-4E(CCV) airplane with a closely coupled canard [PDF]

open access: yes
The F-4E (CCV) wind tunnel model with closely coupled canard control surfaces was analyzed by means of a version of a vortex lattice program that included the effects of nonlinear leading edge or side edge vortex lift on as many as four individual ...

Biointerface Membranes Orchestrating Site‐Specific Osteoimmunomodulatory and Antibacterial Effects for Enhanced Osseous Regeneration in Periodontal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, a biointerface membrane engineered with site‐specific interfacial properties is developed. During implantation between gingival and bone defect, the membrane creates a pro‐osteogenic microenvironment, precisely modulates cellular activities at each biointerface, and facilitates the orchestration of complex healing events, ultimately leading to ...

Vortex interaction with a leading-edge of finite thickness [PDF]

open access: yes
Vortex interaction with a thick elliptical leading-edge at zero relative offset produces a pronounced secondary vortes of opposite sense that travels with the same phase speed as the primaty vortex along the lower surface of the edge. The edge thickness (

Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

A water tunnel flow visualization study of the vortex flow structures on the F/A-18 aircraft [PDF]

open access: yes
The vortex flow structures occurring on the F/A-18 aircraft at high angles of attack were studied. A water tunnel was used to gather flow visualization data on the forebody vortex and the wing leading edge extension vortex.
