Phenotypic landscape inference reveals multiple evolutionary paths to C$_4$ photosynthesis [PDF]
C$_4$ photosynthesis has independently evolved from the ancestral C$_3$ pathway in at least 60 plant lineages, but, as with other complex traits, how it evolved is unclear.

A model-based approach to recovering the structure of a plant from images [PDF]
We present a method for recovering the structure of a plant directly from a small set of widely-spaced images. Structure recovery is more complex than shape estimation, but the resulting structure estimate is more closely related to phenotype than is a ...

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

A re-evaluation of Cheilolejeunea subgenus Xenolejeunea [PDF]
Cheilolejeunea subgenus Xenolejeunea Kachroo & Schust. is emended to account for variability observed in stem anatomy and lobule structure. Cheilolejeunea subgenus Tegulilejeunea Schust. is reduced to synonymy with subgenus Xenolejeunea.

SPAD-502 and atLEAF CHL PLUS values provide good estimation of the chlorophyll content for Hevea brasiliensis Müll. Arg. Leaves [PDF]
Measurement of chlorophyll content using destructive methods is not efficient due to a large number of samples, cost, and time needed. Estimationof chlorophyll content by nondestructive methods using handheld chlorophyll meter may be considered to ...

Anatomi Daun Beberapa Talas Liar (Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott dari Kabupaten Bogor
Leaf anatomy characters are commonly stable, however some of them can change because of environmental influence. Identification of those characters are necessary to be conducted by observing anatomical structure of the plants grown out side of the ...
