Architecture Based Classification of Leaf Images

open access: yesCoRR, 2018
Plant classification and identification has so far been an important and difficult task. In this paper, an efficient and systematic approach for extracting the leaf architecture characters from captured digital images is proposed. The input image is first pre-processed in five steps to be prepared for feature extraction.

Refining the genetic architecture of flag leaf glaucousness in wheat [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Genetics, 2020
AbstractKey messageThe cuticle is the plant’s barrier against abiotic and biotic stresses, and the deposition of epicuticular wax crystals results in the scattering of light, an effect termed glaucousness. Here, we dissect the genetic architecture of flag leaf glaucousness in wheat toward a future targeted design of the cuticle.AbstractThe cuticle ...

Contributions of leaf distribution and leaf functions to photosynthesis and water-use efficiency from leaf to canopy in apple: A comparison of interstocks and cultivars

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
Grafting has been widely used in horticulture to induce dwarfing and avoid stress-derived limitations on plant growth and yield by affecting plant architecture and leaf functions.

Shoot yield drives phosphorus use efficiency in Brassica oleracea and correlates with root architecture traits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The environmental and financial costs of using inorganic phosphate fertilizers to maintain crop yield and quality are high. Breeding crops that acquire and use phosphorus (P) more efficiently could reduce these costs.

Arquitetura, anatomia e histoquímica das folhas de Gomphrena arborescens L.f. (Amaranthaceae) Architecture, anatomy and histochemistry of the leaves of Gomphrena arborescens L.f. (Amaranthaceae)

Leaf architecture, lignification, and tensile strength during vegetative phase change in Zea mays

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2011
Background and Aims: Leaf morphology, anatomy, degree of lignification, and tensile strength were studied during vegetative phase change in an inbred line of Zea mays (OH43 x W23) to determine factors that influence mechanical properties during ...

An eQTL analysis of partial resistance to Puccinia hordei in barley [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background - Genetic resistance to barley leaf rust caused by Puccinia hordei involves both R genes and quantitative trait loci. The R genes provide higher but less durable resistance than the quantitative trait loci. Consequently, exploring quantitative

Light-related variation in sapling architecture of three shade-tolerant tree species of the Mexican rain forest

open access: yes, 2008
The crown architecture of three shade-tolerant tree species (two subcanopy and one mid-canopy) was analyzed in relation to the light regime of the forest understorey.

Artificial Neural Network Performance on Pakcoy Leaf Fresh Weight Model

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Dasar, 2022
The growth of leaf biomass can be predicted from an increase in the surface area and thickness of the leaves. Measurements of leaf biomass are approached with the fresh weight of the leaves. The relationship between biomass and leaf surface area commonly
