Deep Learning Inverse Design of Phase‐Change Reconfigurable Terahertz Metadevices for Multidimensional Secure Communication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A deep learning inverse‐design framework is established to create versatile reconfigurable terahertz metadevices. By synergizing deep learning with phase‐change materials, this approach enables on‐demand customization of multidimensional electromagnetic responses.

Ground-Based Estimation of Leaf Area Index and Vertical Distribution of Leaf Area Density in a Betula ermanii Forest

open access: yesGround-Based Estimation of Leaf Area Index and Vertical Distribution of Leaf Area Density in a Betula ermanii Forest
We developed a ground-based method for estimating leaf area index (LAI) and vertical distribution of leaf area density (LAD) for two Betula ermanii plots, combining an allometric method for tree leaf area with the MacArthur–Horn (MH) method using a portable laser rangefinder, including a correction for changes in leaf inclination angle along the ...

Femtosecond‐Laser Mould Texturing Enables Tunable Biointerfaces in COC Microfluidics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Femtosecond‐laser texturing of injection‐mould inserts enables scalable engineering of biointerfaces in cyclic olefin copolymer microfluidics. Replicated micro‐ and nano‐topographies modulate surface roughness and wettability, leading to texture‐dependent protein adsorption and cell adhesion without chemical post‐processing.

Effects of density and climate on leaf size and specific leaf area in Neolamarckia cadamba plantations in the Southern Highlands of Vietnam

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Biology and Agricultural Sciences
Leaf characteristics are vital indicators of photosynthetic capacity; however, their response to planting density and climate in Neolamarckia cadamba is not well understood. A field experiment was conducted to investigate leaf size and specific leaf area "SLA" (the ratio of leaf area to leaf dry mass) in N.

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Tunable 3D‐Printed Static Mixers for Gradient Bioprinting With High Cell Viability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The fabrication of native tissue‐like structures with gradual transitions in material properties, cell types, and growth factors remains a major challenge in biofabrication due to the lack of suitable methods. Mimicking the hierarchical organization of living tissues is essential for functional models, yet creating gradient, multimaterial ...

Ultrafast (1‐5 sec) Lamination of Perovskite Solar Cells With Self‐Encapsulation Using Rapid Joule Heating

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Halide perovskite solar cells are fabricated with self‐encapsulation by lamination between two glass substrates using rapid Joule heating, yielding a 99% reduction in lamination time compared to previous studies. An 18% efficient cell is laminated in 5 s, demonstrating the potential for scalable manufacturing. ABSTRACT Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are
