Leaf area index (LAI) estimation based on vehicle-based laser scanning [PDF]

open access: yes2010 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2010
This paper proposes a novel approach for leaf area index (LAI) estimation based on vehicle-based laser scanning (VLS), which occurs as a state-of-the-art mapping technique. The method is advanced from the traditional terrestrial laser scanning (TLS), which has been primarily validated capable of predicting LAI.

MULTI-SENSOR APPROACH TO LEAF AREA INDEX ESTIMATION USING STATISTICAL MACHINE LEARNING MODELS: A CASE ON MANGROVE FORESTS [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2021
Leaf Area Index (LAI) is a quantity that characterizes canopy foliage content. As leaf surfaces are the primary sites of energy, mass exchange, and fundamental production of terrestrial ecosystem, many important processes are directly proportional to LAI.

The Design and Implementation of the Leaf Area Index Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2015
The quick and accurate acquisition of crop growth parameters on a large scale is important for agricultural management and food security. The combination of photographic and wireless sensor network (WSN) techniques can be used to collect agricultural ...

Comparative analysis of changes in leaf area index in different wheat genotypes exposed to high temperature stress by late sown condition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
High temperature stress during grain-filling period is one of the major environmental constraints limiting the grain yield of wheat in India. Crop growth response and relative performance of yield components of 12 wheat (Triticum aestivum) genotypes were

Validation of sentinel-2 leaf area index (LAI) product derived from SNAP toolbox and its comparison with global LAI products in an African semi-arid agricultural landscape

open access: yesRemote Sensing Letters, 2020
This study validated SNAP-derived LAI from Sentinel-2 and its consistency with existing global LAI products. The validation and inter-comparison experiments were performed on two processing levels, i.e., Top-of-Atmosphere and Bottom-of-Atmosphere ...

LAI based trees selection for mid latitude urban developments: A microclimatic study in Cairo, Egypt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
To study the leaf area index, LAI, based thermal performance in distinguishing trees for Cairo's urban developments, ENVI-met plants database was used as platform for a foliage modeling parameter, the leaf area density, LAD.

A Mixed Data-Based Deep Neural Network to Estimate Leaf Area Index in Wheat Breeding Trials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Remote and non-destructive estimation of leaf area index (LAI) has been a challenge in the last few decades as the direct and indirect methods available are laborious and time-consuming.

Remote Sensing of Leaf Area Index from LiDAR Height Percentile Metrics and Comparison with MODIS Product in a Selectively Logged Tropical Forest Area in Eastern Amazonia

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Leaf area index (LAI) is an important parameter to describe the capacity of forests to intercept light and thus affects the microclimate and photosynthetic capacity of canopies.

Computer simulation modeling of Leaf Area Index (LAI) in maize

open access: yesActa Agraria Debreceniensis, 2014
This study presents a PHP-based model capable of calculating maize leaf area index. The model calculates LAI from emergence to 75% silking. The basis of calculation is represented by the daily average temperature values. The usability of the model was tested using three years' temperature and LAI data series from the values obtained by the weather ...

Effect of fruit-to-leaf area ratio on fruit quality and vegetative growth of 'bing' sweet cherry trees at optimal leaf area index [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Fruit yield and quality determine grower income from commercial sweet cherry orchards. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of Fruit Number to Leaf Area Ratio (FNLAR, fruit m-2 LA) on Mean Fruit Weight (MFW), firmness (F), soluble ...
