NONDESTRUCTIVE ESTIMATION OF DRY WEIGHT AND LEAF AREA OF PHALAENOPSIS LEAVES
Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 2004A nondestructive dry-weight estimation for growth models of Phalaenopsis was developed which allowed the area and dry weight of Phalaenopsis leaves to be estimated without removing leaves from the plants of four cultivars. Four dimensions of physical properties of Phalaenopsis leaves were measured in this study. These dimensions were length, maximum

Early growth, leaf development, and dry-weight production of sycamore rooted cuttings
Biomass and Bioenergy, 1996Abstract Rooted cuttings of four American sycamore clones ( Platanus accidentalis L.) were used to investigate early tree growth, leaf development, and dry-weight production for a short-rotation plantation in east-central Mississippi. Monthly increments in height and diameter growth were measured during the second (1990) and third (1991) growing ...

Estimating Leaf Areas of Cowpea and Soyabean Using Dry Weights of Terminal Leaflets
Experimental Agriculture, 1980SUMMARYLeaf area index is an important parameter in many agronomic and physiological studies, but its determination in cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) and soyabean (Glycine max) is difficult and time consuming. A simple and rapid method is described in which dry weights of the middle leaflets were used to predict leaf areas of cowpea and soyabean.

Western hemlock, Douglas-fir and lodgepole pine were grown on three different sources of nitrogen. At 18 weeks the relationship between leaf area and leaf dry weight was determined for each species. A linear relationship was found between leaf area and leaf dry weight for all three species.

HETEROSIS IN FODDER LABLAB FOR SPECIFIC LEAF WEIGHT, DRY MATTER, CRUDE PROTEIN AND PHOSPHORUS
Madras Agricultural Journal, 1996In fodder lablab, a diallel design of experiment was conducted with six genotypes for the biometrical traits of specific leaf weight, dry matter production, crude protein and phosphorus contents during 1994. Among the 30 hybrids studied, 16 hybrids recorded higher mean values than the mean of the hybrids in specific leaf weight. The hybrid DL 3196 x Co

LEAF NUMBER ESTIMATION FROM SHOOT DRY WEIGHT MEASUREMENTS FOR TWO TURFGRASS SPECIES
Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1989The objective of this study was to determine if total plant leaf numbers in a large data set could be predicted from individual plant shoot dry weight measurements using regression equations derived from a subset of the data. The species used were annual bluegrass (Poa annua L.) and creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris Huds. ’Penncross’).

Oilseed rape has a high requirement for sulfur (S) compared with cereals and many other species, and when soil S supplies are low it is one of the first crops to show deficiency. Timely diagnosis of S deficiency is important so that fertiliser can be applied to avoid a reduction in yield.

SummaryAnalysis of seasonal growth and fruit production of American Upland Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) with different combinations of leaf shapes and colours was made in 1970. Plants with the ‘okra’ leaf shape (LOLO) had a higher photosynthetic rate, number of green bolls, number of ‘squares’ (flowering buds) and flowers, dry weight of fruiting ...

To study the change rules of specific leaf weight, dry weight of rhizoma and the drying rate of annual and biennial Atractylodes macrocephala. We measured the specific leaf weight and dry weight of rhizoma, and accounted the drying rate and correlation by dugging the annual and biennial plants each 15 days.

In 2004 and 2005, the yield, leaf area, dry weight and dry weight partitions of soybeans were determined at the Agroforestry Research Site (ARS) (est. 1987, Ontario, Canada). Soybean was intercropped with poplar (Populus deltoides x nigra DN-177 L., 556 m3crown tree−1), silver maple (Acer saccharinum L., 308 m3), black walnut (Juglans nigra L., 148 m3)
