Mechanism of Leaf-Shape Determination.
Annual Review of Plant Biology, 2006Biodiversity of plant shape is mainly attributable to biodiversity of leaf shape and the shape of floral organs, the modified leaves. However, the exact mechanisms of leaf-shape determination remain unclear due to the complexity of flat-structure organogenesis that includes the simultaneous cell cycling and cell enlargement in primordia. Recent studies

Vascular Patterning and Leaf Shape
Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 2001Morphogenesis of leaf shape and formation of the major elements of leaf vasculature are temporally coordinated during leaf development. Current analyses of mutant phenotypes provide strong support for the role of auxin signaling in vascular pattern formation and indicate that leaf shape and vasculature are developmentally coupled.

Effective shape features for leaf classification
Journal of Electronic Imaging, 2023When conducting image classification, traditional and deep-learning based methods require extracting target features in different ways and then classifying targets based on the features. Therefore, extracting more informative and effective features is very important, and this problem also exists in plant leaf classification.

Humans carry out object recognition as a very primitive task. However, knowing all the detailed information regarding an object is mostly not possible. Therefore, object recognition and linking the object to associated data is a popular research area. In this study, we have measured leaf recognition performances of different feature and data sets using

Shaping up: the genetic control of leaf shape
Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 2004Leaf initiation at the shoot apical meristem involves a balance between cell proliferation and commitment to make primordia. Several genes, such as CLAVATA1, CLAVATA3, WUSCHEL, KNOTTED1, and PHANTASTICA, play key roles in these processes. When expressed in the leaf primordium, however, these 'meristem' genes can profoundly affect leaf shape and size ...

Classification of leaf shapes and estimation of leaf mass
2012 International Conference on Green and Ubiquitous Technology, 2012The goal of classifying leaves is to find potential correlation between visually-unrelated leaves and link them with leaf mass. We apply cluster analysis to distinguish over 20 typical kinds of leaves extracted from arbor species. This approach can preferably rule out odd-shaped leaves and classify them according to the metrics.
