Abstract Studies were conducted to quantify leaf area damage to ‘Tahiti’ lime by citrus leafminer (CLM) (Phyllocnistis citrella Stainton) and to relate leaf damage to larval density and the length of time mining per leaf. Visual estimates of leaf damage were similar among five evaluators and were positively correlated with image analysis ...

Interactions Between Leafminer Damage and Leaf Necrosis Caused by Alternaria alternata on Potato in the Sultanate of Oman [PDF]
Four field experiments were carried out from 1998 to 1999 and from 1999 to 2000 growing seasons of potato to investigate the relationship between leafminers and Alternaria alternata. The experiments established differential susceptibility among potato varieties to alternaria leaf necrosis, relationship between leafminer infestation and the level of ...

Population dynamics and damage caused by the leafminer Liriomyza huidobrensis blanchard (Diptera: Agromyzidae), on seven potato processing varieties grown in temperate environment [PDF]
The leafminer Liriomyza huidobrensis Blanchard is considered a key pest for potatoes in Argentina. Population dynamics and leaf damage caused by the leafminer on seven selected potato processing varieties were assessed at Balcarce during the 2002 and 2003 growing seasons.

Anatomy of a forest pest outbreak: the oak shothole leafminer, damage, and host susceptibilities
Abstract Understanding the impact of the oak shothole leafminer Japanagromyza viridula (Coquillett) (Diptera: Agromyzidae) on oaks is important because oaks provide invaluable ecological services in forests and urban settings. In 2019 and 2020, shothole leafminers caused high levels of damage to oak trees in several states in the mid ...

Selective leaf surface defenses: trichomes trap herbivorous leafminers but spare parasitoid wasps. [PDF]
Hooked trichomes on kidney bean leaves selectively entrap leafminer flies but rarely affect parasitoid wasps. This morphological barrier enables pest suppression with minimal impact on beneficial insects, offering insights for breeding pest‐resistant cultivars compatible with biological control. Abstract BACKGROUND Leafminers [e.g., Liriomyza trifolii (

Population Phylogenomics and Genetic Structure of the Polyphagous Leafminer, Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess) (Diptera: Agromyzidae). [PDF]
ABSTRACT The agromyzid leafminer Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess) is an important polyphagous pest of vegetable crops and ornamental plants. It is native to the Americas but has spread throughout the world over the past 50 years. Previous molecular research has indicated that this species contains highly distinct mitochondrial lineages suggestive of ...

First Report of the Alfalfa Blotch Leafminer (Diptera: Agromyzidae), and Selected Parasites (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) in Minnesota and Wisconsin, USA [PDF]
Alfalfa blotch leafminer, Agromyza frontella, has been a serious pest of alfalfa, Medicago sativa, in the northeastern U.S. and in eastern Ontario, Canada. Until recently, the western edge of the A. frontella distribution in the U.S.

Influence of Leaf Nitrogen on Leafminer Damage and Yield of Spray Chrysanthemum
Abstract Damage by leafminer [Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess)], increased linearly as leaf nitrogen increased from 2.2% to 4.0% in spring and fall plantings of Chrysanthemum x morifolium Ramat. ‘Manatee Yellow Iceberg’. The number of marketable stems was related quadratically to leaf nitrogen with maximum yields estimated to occur at 3.6% at harvest.
