Physiological response of grapevine Vitis vinifera L. to grapevine leafroll associated viruses (GLRaV-1 and GLRaV-1 + GLRaV-3)

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2016
Grapevine leafroll disease is one of the most severe viral diseases of grapevine caused by Grapevine leafroll-associated viruses (GLRaVs). Physiological processes were monitored on grapevines with single (GLRaV-1) and mixed (GLRaV-1 and GLRaV -3) viral ...

Distribution and Genetic Diversity of Grapevine Viruses in Russia

open access: yesPlants, 2021
Viral diseases can seriously damage the vineyard productivity and the quality of grape and wine products. Therefore, the study of the species composition and range of grapevine viruses is important for the development and implementation of strategies and

Sugarcane Small Heat Shock Proteins Facilitate Sugarcane Mosaic Virus Replication via Interaction With the Movement Protein P3N‐PIPO

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 3, March 2026.
SCMV targets small heat shock proteins (ScHSP17.5 and ScHSP17.9A) via P3N‐PIPO to evade sugarcane immunity and enhance replication, revealing key host–virus interactions for breeding strategies. ABSTRACT Sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV) causes substantial yield losses worldwide, yet the molecular basis underlying resistance and susceptibility in sugarcane

Selection of RNA isolation method for molecular detection of grapevine viruses

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2002
Grapevines infected with Grapevine leafroll-associated virus-1 (GLRaV-1) and Grapevine leafroll-associated virus-3 (GLRaV-3) were selected. Total RNA was isolated from grapevine phloem tissue scrapped from dormant canes by three different methods ...

The Tomato Transcription Factor RAV Affects the Systemic Infection of TYLCV by Interacting With V2

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study investigated the interaction between TYLCV V2 and tomato transcription factor SlRAV2: SlRAV2 enhances the RSS activity of V2 by strengthening its binding to 21‐nt ds‐siRNA, V2 enhances SlRAV2's SlPR1 promoter regulation and their interaction inhibits systemic spread of the virus from infiltrated leaves to systemic leaves.

A Lectin Disrupts Vector Transmission of a Grapevine Ampelovirus

open access: yesViruses, 2020
Grapevine leafroll disease is one of the most important virus diseases of grapevines and occurs in every major grape-growing region of the world. The vector-transmission mechanisms of the causative agent, Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 3 (GLRaV-3 ...

A Field‐Based Investigation of the Association Between Cotton Leafroll Dwarf Virus and Bronze Wilt‐Like Responses in Upland Cotton in Georgia

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
In Georgia, commercial upland cotton cultivars that expressed bronze wilt‐like responses consistently showed high copy numbers of cotton leafroll dwarf virus (CLRDV) gene, particularly in late‐planted cotton. These observations parallel historical reports of bronze wilt and suggest an association between CLRDV infection and bronze wilt‐like symptom ...

Real-time RT-PCR high-resolution melting curve analysis and multiplex RT-PCR to detect and differentiate grapevine leafroll-associated associated virus 3 variant groups I, II, III and VI

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2012
Background Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 3 (GLRaV-3) is the main contributing agent of leafroll disease worldwide. Four of the six GLRaV-3 variant groups known have been found in South Africa, but their individual contribution to leafroll disease ...

Occurrence of Grapevine Leafroll-Associated Viruses in China [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2013
To characterize the prevalence of viruses associated with grapevine leafroll disease in China, 249 grapevine (Vitis spp.) samples (86 popular cultivars and a rootstock) from 19 provinces and regions were collected and tested for Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 1 (GLRaV-1), GLRaV-2, GLRaV-3, GLRaV-4, and GLRaV-4 strain 5 by SYBR Green real-time ...
