Leakage effects in planar chirowaveguides

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium 1997. Digest, 2002
We report on novel physical effects in symmetric planar chirowaveguides. First, these symmetrical chiral structures can support leaky waves while their achiral counterparts cannot. Second, leaky waves from these structures primarily exhibit polarization with a handedness opposite to that of the guided waves.

Effect of nedocromil sodium on microvascular leakage

Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1993
The recognition that asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease has focused attention on microvascular leakage, which is a component of the inflammatory process. Epithelial shedding, airway edema, increased airway resistance, and airway hyperresponsiveness can result from the plasma extravasation caused by leakage.

Effect of leakage in Helmholtz resonators

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2007
The effect of leakage in Helmholtz resonators has been experimentally and numerically investigated. Transmission loss of a Helmholtz resonator having a gap between the cavity and main duct is measured using an impedance tube setup. The effect of leakage on the transmission loss is examined using different amounts of gap openings.

Smear layer removal effects on apical leakage

Journal of Endodontics, 1986
Reliable techniques of smear layer formation and removal were developed. Thirty-four teeth with smear layers and 34 teeth without smear layers were tested in vitro to evaluate the effects on apical leakage. These teeth were obturated using Hydron or chloroform-softened gutta-percha master cones with sealer and lateral condensation. Apical leakage was

Effects of ischaemia on leakage of albumin in rabbit kidneys

Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1987
The effect of ischaemia on the leakage of proteins across the vessel walls in rabbit kidneys was studied. The leakage of proteins was estimated from the distribution space of labelled albumin. Various methods to calculate the vascular volume yielding the true extravascular leakage were tested.

The Effect of Pressure Drop on Respirator Faceseal Leakage

Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene, 2005
Users of particulate air-purifying respirators are typically told to change their filters when breathing resistance becomes uncomfortable. It has been proposed that a noticeable increase in breathing resistance (pressure drop) may increase airflow through respirator faceseal leaks.

Effects of treatment on airway microvascular leakage.

The European respiratory journal. Supplement, 1990
Microvascular leakage, an essential component of inflammation, probably plays a critical role in asthma in producing plasma exudation and thickening of the bronchial mucosa which may underlie airway hyperresponsiveness. Several therapeutic approaches are possible to reduce this leakage, by blocking either the effects or the release of inflammatory ...

Effect of lateral leakage on neutron waves

Transport Theory and Statistical Physics, 1971
Abstract A mathematical description is given for a neutron wave propagating parallel to the surface of a semi-infinite medium or of a slab. Cercignani's method of singular eigenfunction expansions is applied under the assumption of one-speed isotropic scattering.

Simplified calculation of the effects of jitter on clutter leakage

Applied Optics, 1983
A simple analytical solution has been found that enables prediction of the effects of line-of-sight motion of a sensor on clutter leakage after first differencing. The effect of finite footprint size is included, and the crucial importance of the ratio of this quantity to the background correlation length is given. For small motions the clutter leakage

Scaling effects on gate leakage current

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 2003
Scaling effects on direct tunneling gate leakage current are analyzed by utilizing new models implemented to perform self-consistent calculation between the direct tunneling, the band-gap narrowing (BGN) and the incomplete impurity ionization. This calculation is indispensable for reproducing the measured gate current-gate voltage characteristics in ...
