Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Analytical Modeling and Analysis of High-Torque-Density Three-Segment Halbach Array PM Machine by Considering Leakage Flux

open access: yesMachines
Conventional finite element method (FEM) has a complex model and a long optimization time for Halbach array PM machines. This paper proposes a hybrid analytical method that combines the subdomain method (SM) and the magnetic circuit method (MEC) for ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Magnetic Flux Leakage Inspection of Moving Steel Sheets

open access: yes, 1996
In the process of making drawn and ironed cans out of a steel sheet, non-metallic inclusions such as chemical oxides in the steel sheet may cause cracks. Therefore, steel sheets are inspected before they are drawn and the magnetic flux leakage testing is

Enhancing Bubble Removal in Geometry‐Optimized Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
3D‐printed lattice electrodes outperform stochastic foams in alkaline water electrolysis despite 20%–25% lower surface area. Straight flow channels generate Venturi‐like bubble entrainment, suppressing gas accumulation that renders foam interiors electrochemically inactive.

Improving the Hybrid Electromagnetic Clamping System by Reducing the Leakage Flux and Enhancing the Effective Flux

open access: yes, 2019
In most industrial fields, mechanical clamping methods are traditionally used to transport heavy loads such as steel structures by fastening the load using bolts and nuts.

Comparative Analysis in Single-Phase Induction Motors: Analytical, Numerical, and Load Tests

open access: yesIEEE Access
Single-phase induction machines have two windings in the stator to produce a rotating field: a main winding and an auxiliary winding. The stator slot leakage inductance varies with the position of the coils within the slot.

Improved Imaging of Magnetic Flux Leakage Fields

open access: yes, 1981
The present detection methods for imaging flux leakage are colored particle, fluorescent particle, Hall detectors and coils. These techniques are limited due to the need for the detector to be in close proximity to the· material being inspected ...
