Holonomic quantum computing in symmetry-protected ground states of spin chains

open access: yes, 2013
While solid-state devices offer naturally reliable hardware for modern classical computers, thus far quantum information processors resemble vacuum tube computers in being neither reliable nor scalable.

Polymer Network Modified Perovskite for High‐Performance Pure Blue Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polymer network of poly(4‐vinylphenol) (PVPh) is introduced to improve pure blue perovskite light‐emitting diodes. PVPh effectively passivates defects, enhances film morphology, reduces lattice strain, and suppresses ion migration. These effects lead to record device performance, achieving 9.82% external quantum efficiency and stable blue emission at

Think Globally, Act Globally: The Limits of Local Climate Policies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
State-level actions to address global climate change, such as laws and litigation recently undertaken by California and by several Northeastern states to limit greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, reflect creative legal strategies understandably intended to ...

Assembly of Cell‐Seeded 3D Printed Hydrogel Modules with Perfusable Channel Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Macroscale assembly was utilized to prepare perfusable tissue constructs from individually 3D printed hydrogel modules with embedded branched channel networks and port arrays for cell seeding. Novel multi‐material bioreactors were fabricated to facilitate the gluing of individual modules and the perfusion culture of assembled modular constructs seeded ...

Simulation Analysis of the Annular Liquid Disturbance Induced by Gas Leakage from String Seals During Annular Pressure Relief

open access: yesModelling
Due to the failure of string seals, gas can leak and result in the abnormal annulus pressure in gas wells, so it is necessary to relieve the pressure in gas wells.

3D‐Printed Hygroscopic Polymer Networks for High‐Humidity Triboelectric Nanogenerators to Wirelessly Power Implantable Electronic Devices‐ A Conceptual Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work develops 3D‐printable tribopolymer networks that can enhance triboelectric performance under high humidity environments. Polar hydrophilic functional groups and incorporation of zwitterionic monomers promote bound‐water–dominated interfacial polarization thereby increasing electrical outputs.

Effect of desiccation on the root system of Norway spruce (Picea abies [L.] Karst.) seedlings and a possibility of using hydrogel STOCKOSORB® for its protection

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2003
The aims of this study were: 1. to determine the effect of dexiccation treatment on the physiological quality of Norway spruce (Picea abies [L.] Karst.) seedlings by measurements of electrolyte leakage from the root system; b) to test the use of hydrogl ...

Engineering Intelligent Graphene Oxide‐Cellulose Membranes: Suppressing Thermal Runaway for a Safer Aqueous Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel thermos‐responsive hydroxypropyl cellulose/graphene oxide (HPC/GO) composite membrane is fabricated for reversible temperature‐gated ion transport in aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. Enabled by LCST‐driven structural transition, unimpeded ion diffusion at room temperature delivers high capacity, while elevated temperature suppresses transport; full ...
