Model of light collimation by photonic crystal surface modes

open access: yes, 2007
We propose a quantitative model explaining the mechanism of light collimation by leaky surface modes that propagate on a corrugated surface around the output of a photonic crystal waveguide.

Acoustic Leaky-Wave antenna

open access: yes2014 8th International Congress on Advanced Electromagnetic Materials in Microwaves and Optics, 2014
In the last years, the number of studies carried out in the field of acoustic metamaterials has significantly increased. In year 2009, our group proposed a concept of acoustic composite right/left hand transmission line (CRLH-TL) metamaterial, consisting of a waveguide periodically loaded with membranes along the duct, and transverse open channels ...

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

Dielectric EBG Leaky-Wave Antenna: Design and Experimental Validation

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation
This paper proposes a novel Electromagnetic Band-Gap (EBG) leaky-wave antenna (LWA) operating in the K-band with enhanced directivity at broadside. A rigorous method that combines the analysis of the band diagrams of Bloch waves propagating within two ...

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.
