Leaky-wave antennas

2016
Millimeter waveguides, such as coplanar lines, microstrip lines and dielectric guides, are open structures where energy leakage is bound to occur. This leakage can occur, for example, when there are discontinuities in the guiding structure, or perhaps when the guide is excited in an inappropriate mode.

Slow leaky waves

International Journal of Electronics, 1978
A new type of leaky wave called a alow leaky wave is reported. The slow leaky waves have a phase velocity less than the velocity of light but radiate in a direction away from end-fire.

A trough leaky-wave antenna

2009 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2009
In this paper, a trough leaky-wave antenna is considered that was inspired by the half-width microstrip leaky-wave. The TLW antenna is naturally suitable for flush-mount installation in a metallic body such as an automobile. The radiation characteristics will be investigated in more detail such as the design of the matching cavities and their effect on

Leaky waves in a heteroepitaxial film

Journal of Applied Physics, 1973
Theoretical as well as experimental investigations were carried out for the propagation of leaky waves along an important class of optical thin-film waveguides. For this type of guiding structure which may consist of heteroepitaxial deposition of ZnS or ZnSe on GaAs, the dielectric constant of the thin film is less than that of the substrate ...

Development of leaky-wave antennas

2016 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (APSURSI), 2016
This presentation overviews the development of leaky-wave antennas (LWAs) and the area of leaky waves, starting with the first LWA that was introduced and the early pioneering work of Marcuvitz and Oliner in explaining leaky-wave theory. The development leads up through the present time, where LWAs have seen a renewed interest in the context of ...

Graphene terahertz leaky-wave antennas

2019
In this chapter, we focus on the recent developments made in the context of graphene THz antennas, especially those exploiting the graphene field effect to reconfigure their radiating features. To this purpose, we first review the electronic properties of graphene in the THz range from both a physical and an engineering perspective.

Flat leaky-wave lenses

2012 6th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EUCAP), 2012
Dielectric leaky wave antennas based on modulation of surface reactance are presented. Changing the reactance surface pattern changes the radiated field properties. The operational principle is simple and promise to be suitable for reconfigurable surfaces.

SIW leaky wave antennas

2014 44th European Microwave Conference, 2014
The substrate integrated waveguide can easily be integrated with planar microwave circuits. Antennas designed on this transmission line have a planar structure, and can be fabricated by a standard PCB technology, so they are suitable for mass production.
