A produção enxuta tem provocado mudanças significativas nas empresas, mudanças estas que não vêm sendo acompanhadas pelos sistemas de gestão econômica, desenvolvidos sobre pressupostos equivocados da produção em massa que defendem que as otimizações ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Higher thyroid hormone has a negative association with lower limb lean body mass in euthyroid older adults: Analysis from the Baltimore Longitudinal study of aging

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging, 2023
Background: Hyperthyroidism is associated with lower lean body mass, as a result of catabolic actions of thyroid hormone. Therefore, higher thyroid hormone levels could be a factor in the development of sarcopenia and age associated functional decline ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
