A calibration method of robot kinematic parameters by drawstring displacement sensor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2019
Calibration of robot kinematic parameters can effectively improve the absolute positioning accuracy of the end-effector for industrial robots. This article proposes a calibration method for robot kinematic parameters based on the drawstring displacement ...

The impact of teachers’ wages on students’ performance in the presence of heterogeneity and endogeneity. Evidence from Brazil. [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we estimate the effect of teachers’ wages on students’ achievement in a developing country. We use test scores of pupils enrolled in the 8th grade of primary school, surveyed in 2001 in Brazil.

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Achieving the oracle property of OEM with nonconvex penalties

open access: yesStatistical Theory and Related Fields, 2017
Thepenalised least square estimator of non-convex penalties such as the smoothly clipped absolute deviation (SCAD) and the minimax concave penalty (MCP) is highly nonlinear and has many local optima.

CALCULATION METHOD FOR NONLINEAR DYNAMIC LEAST-ABSOLUTE DEVIATIONS ESTIMATOR

open access: yesJOURNAL OF THE JAPAN STATISTICAL SOCIETY, 2001
Summary: In a nonlinear dynamic model, the consistency and asymptotic normality of the Nonlinear Least-Absolute Deviations (NLAD) estimator were proved by \textit{A. A. Weiss} [Econ. Theory 7, 46-68 (1991)], even though they are difficult to compute in practice.

Estimation of multiple-regime regressions with least absolutes deviation [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper considers least absolute deviations estimation of a regression model with multiple change points occurring at unknown times. Some asymptotic results, including rates of convergence and asymptotic distributions, for the estimated change points ...

Outlier detection using distributionally robust optimization under the Wasserstein metric [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present a Distributionally Robust Optimization (DRO) approach to outlier detection in a linear regression setting, where the closeness of probability distributions is measured using the Wasserstein metric.

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...
