COMPARACIÓN DE TRES MÉTODOS DE REGRESIÓN LINEAL USANDO PROCEDIMIENTOS DE SIMULACIÓN COMPARACIÓN DE TRES MÉTODOS DE REGRESIÓN LINEAL USANDO PROCEDIMIENTOS DE SIMULACIÓN

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Estadística, 2001
When it's necessary to fit a lineal model to a data set, least squares regression method is usually used. This method is optimum if the residuals distribution is normal. When the assumption of residuals normality doesn't comply it's necessary to use

Robust exogeneity tests in the presence of outliers [PDF]

open access: yes
Exogeneity testing is studied in the presence of outliers in response variables. Robust tests based on least absolute deviations (LAD) and M estimators are proposed and illustrated with an application to Mroz (1987) data. Our simulation results show that

Crossover scaling in two dimensions

open access: yes, 1997
We determine the scaling functions describing the crossover from Ising-like critical behavior to classical critical behavior in two-dimensional systems with a variable interaction range.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Metropolitan, Urban, and Rural Regions: How Regional Differences Affect Elementary School Students in Germany

open access: yesAERA Open
This study examined how regional differences affect elementary school students using the representative German Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) 2016 data (N = 3,959 fourth-grade students; M_{Age} = 10.34 years; 49% girls; 71% from

Novel Global Harmony Search Algorithm for Least Absolute Deviation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
The method of least absolute deviation (LAD) finds applications in many areas, due to its robustness compared to the least squares regression (LSR) method. LAD is robust in that it is resistant to outliers in the data. This may be helpful in studies where outliers may be ignored.

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

Determinants of health poverty vulnerability in rural areas of Western China in the post-poverty relief era: an analysis based on the Anderson behavioral model

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Background Although China has eliminated absolute poverty, the effects of sickness still pose a threat to the prospect of returning to poverty in western rural areas. However, poverty governance extends beyond solving absolute poverty, and should enhance

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Measurement of Surface Displacement and Deformation of Mass Movements Using Least Squares Matching of Repeat High Resolution Satellite and Aerial Images

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2012
Displacement and deformation are fundamental measures of Earth surface mass movements such as glacier flow, rockglacier creep and rockslides. Ground-based methods of monitoring such mass movements can be costly, time consuming and limited in spatial and ...
