Research of the two-criteria estimation method for linear regression models
The paper is devoted to the research of the two-criteria estimation method for linear regressions. The first criterion corresponds to the least absolute deviations, the second – to the non-strict ordinary least squares.

Background Weight loss diets continue to rise in popularity; however, the associated costs are seldom reported. Certain weight loss diets may be unaffordable and differ from their traditional nutrition composition to include non-conventional premium ...

Least-absolute-deviations fits for generalized linear models [PDF]
SUMMARY The fitting by quasi-likelihoods is based on Euclidean distance and thereby related to the least-squares norm. This paper examines the consequences of replacing the L2-norm by the L1-norm in the derivation of quasi-likelihoods.

Estimation and tests for power-transformed and threshold GARCH models [PDF]
Consider a class of power transformed and threshold GARCH(p,q) (PTTGRACH(p,q)) model, which is a natural generalization of power-transformed and threshold GARCH(1,1) model in Hwang and Basawa (2004) and includes the standard GARCH model and many other ...

Results of the Childhood Cancer and Leukaemia Group's United Kingdom Relapsed Wilms Tumour Trial
ABSTRACT Background The United Kingdom relapsed Wilms tumour (UKW‐R) trial aimed to improve the historically low survival rates after relapse of Wilms tumour (WT) through a prospective national risk‐stratified protocol. The trial also evaluated efficacy and toxicity of high‐dose melphalan.

Least orthogonal absolute deviations problem for generalized logistic function [PDF]
We consider the existence of optimal parameters for generalized logistic model by least orthogonal absolute deviations, and prove the existence of such optimal solution, under the monotonicity condition on the ...

From KIDSCREEN-10 to CHU9D: creating a unique mapping algorithm for application in economic evaluation [PDF]
Background: The KIDSCREEN-10 index and the Child Health Utility 9D (CHU9D) are two recently developed generic instruments for the measurement of health-related quality of life in children and adolescents. Whilst the CHU9D is a preference based instrument

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
