Systematic Error Modeling and Bias Estimation

open access: yesSensors, 2016
This paper analyzes the statistic properties of the systematic error in terms of range and bearing during the transformation process. Furthermore, we rely on a weighted nonlinear least square method to calculate the biases based on the proposed models ...

ESTIMATION OF TENSILE STRENGTH PARALLEL TO GRAIN OF WOOD SPECIES [PDF]

open access: yesEngenharia Agrícola, 2019
According to the ABNT NBR 7190: 1997 standard, tensile strength of wood samples shall be defined as the ratio between the ultimate strength from a stress test and the specimen cross-sectional area (350 mm2).

Towards a consistent methodology for testing the electromechanical performance of strip polymer composite actuators

open access: yesPolymer Testing, 2022
Strip actuators have attracted tremendous attention in bionics due to the controllable deformation under various stimuli. However, it is currently hard to compare their performance owing to the different approaches for evaluating their actuation. Most of

A sharp interface direct-forcing immersed boundary method using the moving least square approximation

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2021
Based on the Moving Least Square (MLS) approximation, we propose a sharp interface direct-forcing immersed boundary method for incompressible fluid flows with fixed and moving boundaries.

SOLUTION OF FUZZY INITIAL VALUE PROBLEMS USING LEAST SQUARE METHOD AND ADOMAIN DECOMPOSITION METHOD

open access: yesJournal of Kufa for Mathematics and Computer, 2011
In this paper, we will study the numerical solution of fuzzy initial value problems using two methods, namely, the least square method and the Adomain decomposition method. Also, comparison between the obtained results is made, as well as with the crisp

Nonlinear least squares method [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications - Scientific letters of the University of Zilina, 1999
The paper deals with a comparison of linear and nonlinear least squares approximation. Its aim is to show that the well known transformations of nonlinear dependencies on linear dependencies do not always give exact results. Therefore, the only right possibility of approximation of nonlinear functions is to use one of nonlinear least squares procedures.

Parameter Estimation for Robotic Manipulator Systems

open access: yesMachines, 2022
In this paper, a novel methodology for estimating the parameters of robotic manipulator systems is proposed. It can be seen that, for the purpose of parameter estimation, the input torque to each joint motor is designed as a linear combination of ...

A Discrete Least Squares Method [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Computation, 1977
We consider a discrete least squares approximation to the solution of a two-point boundary value problem for a 2mth order elliptic operator. We describe the approximation space of piecewise polynomials and devise a Gaussian quadrature rule that is suitable for replacing the integrals in the usual least squares method.
