Trust and Growth in the 1990s - A Robustness Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We conduct an extensive robustness analysis of the relationship between trust and growth for a later time period (the 1990s) and with a bigger sample (63 countries) than previous studies.

Offspring Mean Estimators in Branching Processes with Immigration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 60J80.In the present paper we consider the discrete time branching process with immigration and its relationship to the Bienayme-Galton-Watson process with a random number of ancestors.

Semiparametric Robust Estimation of Truncated and Censored Regression Models [PDF]

open access: yes
Many estimation methods of truncated and censored regression models such as the maximum likelihood and symmetrically censored least squares (SCLS) are sensitive to outliers and data contamination as we document.

Averaging forecasts from VARs with uncertain instabilities [PDF]

open access: yes
A body of recent work suggests commonly–used VAR models of output, inflation, and interest rates may be prone to instabilities. In the face of such instabilities, a variety of estimation or forecasting methods might be used to improve the accuracy of ...

Fast algorithm for sparse least trimmed squares via trimmed-regularized reformulation

open access: yes
The least trimmed squares (LTS) is a reasonable formulation of robust regression whereas it suffers from high computational cost due to the nonconvexity and nonsmoothness of its objective function. The most frequently used FAST-LTS algorithm is particularly slow when a sparsity-inducing penalty such as the $\ell_1$ norm is added.

The least trimmed squares. Part I: Consistency

open access: yes, 2006
Consistency of the least trimmed squares is prooved in the framework with deterministic explanatory variables. Part II offers square-root consistency and Part III then Bahadur asymptotic representation.
