The preparative isolation of lecithin.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1978
Lecithin can be prepared on a relatively large scale, free of colored impurities, by a simple two-column procedure. Commercial crude egg lecithin is partially purified by a single-step passage through an alumina column. It is then purified by a two-step passage through a prepacked, commercial silica gel column.

High density lipoproteins as indicators of endothelial dysfunction in children with diadetes type I [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of the investigation was to study the level of blood high density lipoproteins (HDL) in the groups of children with different course of diadetes type I in order to find out the dependence of course and complications of diabetes on that level ...

A Global Scoping Review on Alternative Ready‐to‐Use Therapeutic Foods

open access: yesMaternal &Child Nutrition, EarlyView.
This scoping review identified 53 alternative RUTF formulations replacing primarily peanuts and/or milk. Many showed promising results in acceptability and effectiveness, with potential cost savings. Further research is needed on outcomes beyond anthropometric recovery including cost‐effectiveness, safety, accessibility, macro and micronutrient ...

Synthetic Oil Gels With Organoclays In The Formulation Of Magnetorheological Fluids [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Magnetorheological fluids (MRF) are smart composite materials that, under an external magnetic field, show a reversible solid-liquid transition in less than 10 ms. This study aimed to evaluate which organoclays would jellify a synthetic oil for the formulation of MRF. Three dispersant additives for carbonyl iron powder were evaluated. Fifteen different

Phase behavior of selected artificial lipids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The flexibility of biomembranes is based on the physical-chemical properties of their main components - glycerophospholipids. The structure of these modular amphiphilic molecules can be modified through organic synthesis making it possible to study ...

Nutribloods: Novel synthetic lepidopteran haemolymphs for understanding insect–microbe nutritional interactions in vitro

open access: yesPhysiological Entomology, EarlyView.
We design 20 cell‐free ‘nutribloods’ based on the known composition of Spodoptera littoralis haemolymph for insects fed on 20 chemically defined diets varying in protein and carbohydrate levels. We then compared the growth of the blood‐borne insect bacterium Xenorhabdus nematophila in these 20 nutribloods.

Phospholipid molecular species influence crystal habits and transition sequences of metastable intermediates during cholesterol crystallization from bile salt-rich model bile.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1994
Despite its importance in cholesterol gallstone formation, crystallization of cholesterol from bile is poorly understood, especially with respect to the influences of other biliary lipids. We reported recently (Konikoff et al. J. Clin. Invest. 1992.
