The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Large-scale SiO2 photonic crystal for high efficiency GaN LEDs by nanospherical-lens lithography
Wafer-scale SiO2 photonic crystal (PhC) patterns (SiO2 air-hole PhC, SiO2-pillar PhC) on indium tin oxide (ITO) layer of GaN-based light-emitting diode (LED) are fabricated via novel nanospherical-lens lithography.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Growth and Maturation of Gametophyte in Eisenia bicyclis under Different Light Quality from Light Emitting Diodes(LEDs) [PDF]
We investigated the effect on growth and maturation of gametophyte in Eisenia bicyclis at 20℃, 12 h light-12 h dark cycle and 50μmol m-2 s―1 using four different light emitting diodes (LEDs) and a fluorescent light . The relative growth rates of the male
