Observational Studies of Low Altitude Wind Shear (LAWS) formed in the Lee of Mountains.

open access: yesJournal of the Meteorological Society of Japan. Ser. II, 2001
The purpose of this study is to further our understanding of LAWS occurring in the lee of mountains through an observational investigation of the formation processes. The location of the study is Hanamaki Airport, situated in a basin in the Tohoku Region, Japan, where there is many reports of LAWS.

Dihydroorotase from Methanococcus jannaschii with substrate bound [PDF]

open access: yesStructural Dynamics
Dihydroorotases (DHOase) catalyze the reversible cyclization of N-carbamoyl-L-aspartate (CA) to L-dihydroorotate (DHO) in the third step of de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis.

Genius loci: Vernon Lee e la via amatoriale alla scrittura della storia

open access: yesStoria delle Donne
A central figure in the Anglo-florentine community at the turn of the 20th century, Vernon Lee (1856-1935) was a major contributor to the debates on aesthetics, history and literature in the transition from Victorian culture to modernism.

Impact of Bed Form Celerity on Oxygen Dynamics in the Hyporheic Zone

open access: yes, 2019
Oxygen distribution and uptake in the hyporheic zone regulate various redox-sensitive reactions and influence habitat conditions. Despite the fact that fine-grain sediments in streams and rivers are commonly in motion, most studies on biogeochemistry ...

Vernon Lee e l’Italia : un Genius Loci in mille forme

open access: yesTransalpina

On line bundles arising from the LCK structure over locally conformal Kähler solvmanifolds

open access: yesComplex Manifolds
We can construct a real line bundle arising from the locally conformal Kähler (LCK) structure over an LCK manifold. We study the properties of this line bundle over an LCK solvmanifold whose complex structure is left-invariant. Mainly, we prove that this

The effects of brown rice as functional food on Lee Index, adipose tissues and PRDM16 levels in obesity model Rattus norvegicus

open access: yesHealthcare in Low-resource Settings
Brown rice is a functional food known to improve the Lee Index, influencing PRDM16 levels in obesity conditions. Therefore, this study aims to determine the differences in Lee Index, Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT) weight, White Adipose Tissue (WAT) weight ...

On the CR structure of the tangent sphere bundle

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 1995
We adopt the methods of pseudohermitian geometry (cf. [16]) to study the tangent sphere bundle U(M) over a Riemannian manifold M. If M is an elliptic space form of sectional curvature 1 then U(M) is shown to be globally pseudo-Einstein (in the sense of J.

Kähler Magnetic Curves in Conformally Euclidean Schwarzschild Space

open access: yesCumhuriyet Science Journal
In this paper, we study the magnetic curves on a Kähler manifold which is conformally equivalent to Euclidean Schwarzschild space. We show that Euclidean Schwarzschild space is locally conformally Kähler and transform it into a Kähler space by applying a

On Weyl structures reducible in the direction of the Lee form

open access: yes
A Weyl structure on a Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ is a torsion-free linear connection $\nabla$ such that there is a $1$-form $θ$ (called the Lee form) satisfying $\nabla g = 2\, θ\otimes g$. We examine the case in which there exists a $\nabla$-parallel distribution of codimension $1$ on which the Lee form vanishes identically.
