Zooming In: Assessing the Transferability of SDMs From Large to Small Spatial Extents. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
In this study, we trained ensemble SDMs for the seven native reptile species occurring in the Netherlands, and tested their predictive ability against independent occurrence data in 10 municipalities. We found that despite performing well at national extent, the ensemble SDMs showed poor to moderate performance at municipal level.

Abstract Urban litter, such as cans, packaging, and cigarettes, has significant impacts, and yet little is known about its spatio‐temporal distribution, with little available data. In contexts of data scarcity, crowdsourcing provides a low‐cost approach to collecting a large amount of geo‐referenced data.

Land‐based measures to mitigate climate change: Potential and feasibility by country

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 27, Issue 23, Page 6025-6058, December 2021., 2021
We refine and update the mitigation potentials for 20 land‐based measures in >200 countries and five regions, comparing “bottom‐up” sectoral estimates with integrated assessment models (IAMs). The likely range of cost‐effective (available up to $100/tCO2eq) land‐based mitigation potential is 8–13.8 GtCO2eq yr−1 between 2020 and 2050.
