HPV16 persistent infection and recurrent disease after LEEP [PDF]

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2019
Abstract Background About 23% of patients develop CIN2+ after LEEP treatment due to residual or recurrent lesions. The majority of patients with HPV infection were HPV negative before treatment, but 16,4% were still HPV 16 positive after treatment, indicating that conization do not necessarily clear HPV infection rapidly.

Occupational HPV Exposure in Otolaryngology: A Scoping Review of Detection, Risk, and Prevention

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This scoping review identified 10 studies evaluating occupational HPV exposure in otolaryngology. HPV DNA was detected in surgical plume following some HPV‐related procedures, including up to 56.7% of CO2 laser plume samples, while the only study assessing oral HPV among exposed clinicians reported a prevalence of 2.2%, not exceeding that of the ...

Follow‐Up and Outcomes After Thermal Ablation Treatment Among HIV‐Infected Women From Resource‐Limited Countries With Positive HPV‐Based Screening: Results of the AIMA‐CC Cohort (ANRS 12375)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 12, Page 3016-3028, 15 December 2026.
ABSTRACT Primary screening for human papillomavirus (HPV) followed by treatment with thermal ablation (TA) is an important component of the global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer. However, evidence on post‐TA outcomes in women living with HIV (WLWH) remains limited.

Productive or Transforming? How Epithelial Compartmentalization of HPV DNA and E6/E7 Transcripts Shapes Cervical Screening Assay Performance

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT The human papillomavirus (HPV) life cycle is linked to epithelial cell differentiation, with viral genome amplification, E6/E7 transcription, and virion assembly spatially compartmentalized within the cervical epithelium. This organization is disrupted in transforming lesions.

Hippo pathway disruption and YAP1 activation in anogenital papillary squamous intraepithelial lesion

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 89, Issue 5, Page 849-862, November 2026.
Disruption of the Hippo Pathway with YAP1 activation is a consistent finding in papillary squamous intraepithelial lesions and may underlie their altered epithelial maturation and HPV E6/E7 expression patterns, providing new insight into the pathogenesis of this distinct low‐risk HPV‐associated lesion.
