Outcomes of Pulsed Field Versus Cryoballoon Ablation in Atrial Fibrillation: A Comprehensive Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 1, February 2026.
The key findings of this meta‐analysis are as follows: (1) PFA was associated with a significantly shorter duration compared to the CBA group, (2) PFA was associated with a significantly lower rate of arrhythmia recurrence compared with CBA. Yet, the rate of redo ablation did not differ significantly between both groups, (3) The overall complication ...

State-of-the-Art of Transcatheter Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Medicine
Left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) is an increasingly used alternative to oral anticoagulation in patients with atrial fibrillation, especially in patients with absolute/relative contraindications to these therapies. This review will cover three main

Cryobiopsy in the Diagnosis of Pulmonary Vein Stenosis After Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation: A Case Report

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
A 42‐year‐old man with haemoptysis was initially suspected to have an airway tumour but was ultimately diagnosed with pulmonary vein stenosis, a rare complication of atrial fibrillation ablation. Cryobiopsy ruled out malignancy and revealed a vascular malformation, while computed tomography confirmed left superior pulmonary vein occlusion.

In-hospital safety outcomes of left atrial appendage occlusion in octogenarians and nonagenarians

open access: yesEuropace
Aims Data on safety outcomes of left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) in elderly patients are limited. This study aimed to compare the outcomes of LAAO between octogenarians (age 80–89) and nonagenarians (age ≥90) vs. younger patients (age ≤79). Methods

Ischemic Stroke in Hypereosinophilic Syndrome: A Clinicopathologic Study of Two Cases

open access: yesNeuropathology, Volume 46, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Ischemic stroke is a rare complication of hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES). Manifestations of stroke in HES have been described in the radiologic literature; however the pathologic characterization of central nervous system (CNS) involvement in HES is limited.

Combined left atrial appendage occlusion and catheter ablation procedure for left atrial arrhythmias: A real‐world, propensity‐matched analysis

open access: yesCardiovascular Electrophysiology
Real‐world studies comparing safety and efficacy of combined percutaneous left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) and catheter ablation (CA) to LAAO alone are limited.

Cost-effectiveness of left atrial appendage occlusion during cardiac surgery in France: An economic evaluation based on the LAAOS III study

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Objectives Left atrial appendage occlusion during cardiac surgery is a therapeutic option for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation. The effectiveness and safety of left atrial appendage occlusion have been evaluated in several studies ...
