[Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in cardiomyopathies].

Archives des maladies du coeur et des vaisseaux, 1996
Although physiologists have recognised for many years that cardiac performance is based on two functions, systolic and diastolic, it has only been in the last 15 years that clinicians have acknowledged the essentiel role of diastole in the physiopathology of cardiac disease.

“Isolated” Diastolic Dysfunction in Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction

The American Journal of Cardiology, 2006
We sought to investigate the prescence of "isolated" diastolic disease, defined as reduced long-axis early diastolic velocity with normal systolic velocity, in 21 young patients with left outflow tract obstruction. Most patients had depressed systolic velocities despite normal ejection fractions.

Pulsus Alternans in Diastolic Left Ventricular Dysfunction

Angiology, 1997
Pulsus alternans is usually found in patients with reduced systolic ventricular function. We describe a patient with recurrent pulmonary edema, hypertension, bilateral renal artery stenosis, but with normal systolic function. Pulsus alternans was demonstrated in both pulmonary artery, right ventricle, and left ventricle pressures.

Postresuscitation Left Ventricular Systolic and Diastolic Dysfunction

Circulation, 1997
Background Global left ventricular dysfunction after successful resuscitation is well documented and appears to be a major contributing factor in limiting long-term survival after initial recovery from out-of-hospital sudden cardiac death.

Left ventricular systolic and diastolic dysfunction

2007
In the United States, there are 4.9 million people with heart failure and 400 000 new cases are reported annually [1]. A similar prevalence of heart failure exists in northern Europe, while the prevalence of heart disease, particularly coronary heart disease, is lower in southern Europe.
