Left Ventricular Pseudoaneurysm Perceived as a Left Lung Mass

open access: yesÇukurova Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Dergisi, 2013
Left ventricular pseudo-aneurysm is a rare complication of aneurysmectomy. We present a case of surgically-treated left ventricular pseudo-aneurysm which was diagnosed three years after coronary artery bypass grafting and left ventricular aneurysmectomy.

Neurohumoral and mechanical factors in the modulation of left ventricular mass [PDF]

open access: yes
The goals for the research were to define, describe, and study those neuroendocrine and mechanical mechanisms that may play a role in the initiation and maintenance of an increase in, or cause regression of, the mass of the left ventricle.

Circuit Resistance Training in women: body composition and cardiac morphology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Exercise can elicit morphologic and functional benefits to the heart, mainly on the left ventricle, that it is responsible for the systemic blood circulation.

PCSK9 Loss‐of‐Function Disrupts Cellular Microfilament Network via LIN28A/HES5/JMY Axis in Neural Tube Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PCSK9 acts as a molecular chaperone promoting LIN28A lysosomal degradation. LIN28A elevates transcription factor HES5, increasing JMY expression. PCSK9 loss causes neural tube defects (NTDs) by disrupting the LIN28A/HES5/JMY axis, and high JMY disorganizes the neural progenitor cell microfilament network, leading to incomplete neural tube structure in ...

Preservation of ALYREF Phase Separation Mitigates Doxorubicin‐Induced Cardiomyocyte DNA Damage and Cardiotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Binding of Doxorubicin to ALYREF disrupts its phase‐separated condensate and induces DNA damage and apoptosis in cardiomyocytes Abstract The clinical utility of the anticancer agent doxorubicin (DOX) is limited by its dose‐dependent cardiotoxicity.

Effects of weight loss after sleeve gastrectomy on left ventricular myocardial work in obese patients

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
BackgroundObesity is a global epidemic and a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is an effective bariatric surgery, but its effect on cardiac functions remains unclear.

Acidosis Forces Fatty Acid Uptake and Metabolism in Cancer Cells Regardless of Genotype

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that biological acidosis, commonly observed in tumors and ischemic conditions, actively promotes the protonation of fatty acids, thereby facilitating the uptake of their neutral forms. Consequently, the preference for lipid metabolism in acid‐exposed cells does not arise from genetic reprogramming that prioritizes lipids as the ...

An analysis of the spatial arrangement of the myocardial aggregates making up the wall of the left ventricle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Objective: We used the technique of peeling of myocardial aggregates, usually described as ‘fibres', to determine the spatial arrangement of the myocytes in the left ventricular wall of a healthy autopsied human heart.
