Left ventricular mass

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1967
Abstract A previously described angiocardiographic method has been used to determine left ventricular mass in 28 patients. Weight of the left ventricle at autopsy has been compared with calculated mass. The method has been shown to be reliable in the absence of marked right ventricular hypertrophy, pericardial effusion, or adhesive pericarditis.

A calcifi ed left ventricular mass

Acta Cardiologica, 2014
Mitral annular calcification is a degenerative process. It is mostly asymptomatic. As the calcification becomes more extensive it might be mistaken for an intracardiac tumour. Mitral annular calcification predicts cardiovascular events, cardiovascular death and overall death. It is predictive of a doubling of the stroke risk.

Beyond left ventricular mass: the prognostic power of left ventricular shape

Heart, 2016
In recent years, our knowledge about the mechanisms leading to acute and chronic changes in cardiac morphology and function has been progressively expanding. Nowadays, human studies on cardiac remodelling mostly rely on a variety of non-invasive, rapidly evolving imaging techniques.

Isolated Left Ventricular Noncompaction Mimicking Ventricular Mass

Echocardiography, 2011
Isolated left ventricular noncompaction is an inherited cardiomyopathy characterized by multiple prominent trabeculations with deep intertrabecular recesses. The diagnosis is often missed because echocardiography poses inherent problems of poor echo window in assessment of the LV apex, which is most commonly involved in noncompaction.

Protruding Left Intercostal Mass After Left Ventricular Aneurysmectomy

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2007
In this report we summarize a case of myocardial infarction that developed an apical ventricular aneurysm, which was surgically removed to re-expand and reappear as a pulsating chest wall mass 16 years later.

Left Ventricular Papillary Muscle Mass

Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 2006
To evaluate the effect of papillary muscle mass on the calculation of left ventricular (LV) function and mass and to determine the relationship between papillary muscle mass with body size and sex.Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging examinations from 50 men and 50 women were randomly selected from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis database.
