Significant left ventricular contribution to right ventricular systolic function
American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1991To examine the importance of systolic ventricular interdependence on right ventricular function, we used a unique electrically isolated right ventricular free wall preparation. Double-peaked waveforms for right ventricular pressure and pulmonary arterial blood flow occurred over a wide range of pacing intervals between the left and right ventricles ...

Left ventricular systolic function in primary aldosteronism and hypertension
Journal of Hypertension, 1998This study was designed to investigate whether the excess aldosterone found in primary aldosteronism (PA) influences left-ventricular systolic function (LVSF), through a positive inotropic effectM-mode and two-dimensional echocardiography and transmitral Doppler flow velocity measurements were performed in 82 patients: 44 with confirmed PA (23 male; 21

Evaluation of Left Ventricular Systolic Function
2010Assessment of the left ventricular (LV) function is a very important step in the hemodynamic evaluation, not only for its contribution to diagnosis in heart and respiratory failure, but also for the guidance of therapeutic interventions.

Left Ventricular Systolic Myocardial Function in Ankylosing Spondylitis
Arthritis Care & Research, 2019ObjectiveSubclinical left ventricular (LV) myocardial dysfunction is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), but it is not known whether subclinical LV myocardial dysfunction is present in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) independent of CVD risk factors.MethodsConventional and speckle tracking echocardiography were ...

Left ventricular function in systole and diastole in constrictive pericarditis
American Heart Journal, 1973Abstract Left ventricular function was studied in systole and diastole in 30 patients with constrictive pericarditis. Left ventricular end-diastolic volume was used to divide the patients into three arbitrary groups: severe constriction (EDV 2 ), moderate constriction (EDV 25 to 50 ml./M. 2 ), and mild constriction (EDV > 50 ml./M. 2 ). The patients

Novel techniques for assessment of left ventricular systolic function
Heart Failure Reviews, 2010The evaluation of left ventricular systolic function is one of the most common reasons for referral for a non-invasive cardiac imaging study. In addition to its diagnostic and prognostic value, an assessment of ejection fraction can also be used to guide medical and device therapy.

The influence of obesity on left ventricular filling and systolic function
American Heart Journal, 1992Little information on the possible influence of obesity on diastolic function is available. Thus we studied 24 asymptomatic obese volunteers (greater than 120% ideal body weight; mean 153 +/- 30%), aged 34 +/- 11 years. Each obese subject was matched for age, height, and sex, with a healthy normal-weight control subject.

Few studies were performed to investigate the association between tissue Doppler imaging parameters about left ventricular (LV) systolic function and LV systolic asynchrony and prognosis in patients with septic shock and normal LV ejection fraction (LVEF).

Assessment of Left Ventricular Systolic Function by MRI [PDF]
The accurate assessment of left ventricular (LV) systolic function is clinically important in nearly all types of cardiac disease and often directly affects patient management. One example in ischemic heart disease include acute myocardial infarction (MI) for which ejection fraction and end-systolic volume are important predictors of survival (1) and ...

Left ventricular systolic function
2018Abstract Chapter 6 is subdivided into three sections: global LV systolic function, regional LV systolic function, and cardiomyopathies. In Section 1, commonly used indices of global systolic function, such as fractional area change and ejection fraction, are reviewed, along with their limitations related to oesophageal imaging.
