HUWE1 in Skeletal Muscle Prevents Muscle Fatigue via Maintaining Iron and Calcium Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the impact of iron homeostasis on exercise. Loss of the HECT domain‐containing ubiquitin ligase E3 (HUWE1) in skeletal muscle restrains the exercise performance in mice with downregulated ferroportin expression leading to iron overload, which is ameliorated by dietary iron restriction.

Crossing the Oxo‐Peroxo Wall for Selective Electrochemical Epoxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The classical Oxo‐Wall concept is extended to an Oxo–Peroxo Wall framework, showing that meta‐stable oxo species favor peroxo and superoxo formation, decoupling from oxygen evolution reaction (OER). This new understanding enables selective C‐C bond oxidations and provides a predictive alternative oxidation reaction (AOR) volcano for designing metal ...

Biomimetic Multiscale‐Structured Biomass Graphene/Polyurethane Sponge Composite for Flexible Pressure Sensors and Intelligent Cushioning Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, a multifunctional conductive sponge composite (MAPU) is developed using a biomimetic, hierarchical construction strategy emulating the growth process of natural wood. This approach involved integrating biomass‐derived graphitic nanoflakes, synthesized from luffa vine (LVGN), into a polyurethane (PU) sponge matrix.

Dead Matter, Living Machines: Repurposing Crustaceans' Abdomen Exoskeleton for Bio‐Hybrid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Crustacean exoskeletons, repurposed from food waste, are engineered into sustainable bending actuators combining biotic structure with synthetic control. The augmented exoskeletons achieve rapid and robust motion with lightweight body and can be used as part of robotic manipulators, grippers and swimmers.

Hidden Charge‐Order in the Mixed‐Valent K0.75Li2Cr6O12 High‐Pressure Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
K0.75Li2Cr6O12 is one of the few mixed valent chromium oxides. It shows a single angle spiral magnetic structure with a k = [1/3 1/3 ¼] propagation vector. Density functional theory reveals a hidden charge order that is necessary to stabilize the antiferromagnetic (AFM) ground state.
