3D‐Printing Aided Rapid Prototyping of Pretensioned Tensegrity Structures for Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Printing, injection molding, and assembly (PMA) is a method for rapid prototyping mesoscale, topologically complex, and tensioned tensegrity structures. In combination with PMA method, two mold design strategies: modular mold and compact channel layout, enable efficiency and scalability for tensegrity fabrication.

Radiographic parameters improve lower extremity prosthetic alignment

open access: yesJournal of Children's Orthopaedics, 2013
Purpose The goal of prosthetic fitting is to provide comfort and functionality to the patient. It is thought that incorporating the use of standing anterior–posterior long leg radiographs (LLR) into the fitting of lower extremity prostheses will provide ...

Miniaturized Magnetic Tip Design for Endoluminal Vine Robot Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A magnetic tip mount is designed for a miniaturized 7 mm soft‐growing vine robot to enable wireless magnetic steering and onboard imaging, while preserving a 3 mm working channel. The internal–external ring magnets design balances magnetic attachment with low eversion pressure. Experiments demonstrate ±90° steering, 34 mm bending radius, and successful

The relationship between cartilage thickness and muscle thickness or leg length discrepancy in poliomyelitis sequelae

open access: yes, 2023
Objectives: To evaluate the relationship between cartilage loss and differences in muscle thickness and/or leg length in poliomyelitis sequelae (PMS). Our study is the first to evaluate the relationship between cartilage loss and both muscle atrophy and ...

Self-Adaptive Transtibial Prosthesis: Automatic Detection and Compensation of Leg Length Discrepancy

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Background: Despite the development of manual and passive mechanisms for adjusting prosthesis length, their efficiency remains limited, and users continue to face challenges related to leg length discrepancy (LLD). This dysfunction is an unresolved issue

Introducing PNEUMA: A Hybrid Soft Pneumatic Fabric Bidirectional Actuation Module for Wearable Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study presents a soft pneumatic fabric bidirectional actuation module (PNEUMA) capable of generating high torque in both bending directions within a single integrated architecture. PNEUMA achieves up to 50 Nm with reduced inflation volume and a lightweight design.

Stiffness‐Programmable Origami Robots With Tendon‐Driven Actuation via Multimaterial 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Motion diversity is achieved in a tendon‐driven origami robot through programmable stiffness rather than modified actuation. Multimaterial 3D printing embeds soft creases, modular inserts redirect identical tendon inputs into distinct behaviors, and variable‐stiffness inserts enable real‐time switching.

Co‐Delivery of Sustained Release Chondroitinase ABC‐37 With Human iPSC‐Derived Neural Progenitors Promotes Transplant Survival and Functional Recovery in a Rodent Model of Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A regenerative strategy for stroke combines human stem cell–derived neural progenitor cells with sustained release of a matrix‐modifying, thermostable chondroitinase ABC‐37 enzyme. In a rat model of stroke, co‐delivery enhanced transplanted cell survival and neuronal differentiation, degraded inhibitory extracellular matrix components, and improved ...
