Solvation Structure and Dynamics of the Thiocyanate Anion in mixed N,N‐Dimethylformamide‐Water Solvents: A Molecular Dynamics Approach

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
The solvation structure and dynamics of the SCN− anion in mixed N, N‐Dimethylformamide (DMF)‐water liquid solvents is investigated using classical molecular dynamics simulations. A preferential solvation of SCN− by the water molecules is observed in the first hydration shell, followed by a second shell consisting by both DMF and water molecules.

Climate‐driven resource availability drives medium‐ and broad‐scale temporal changes in owl–prey interactions over 24 years in a semi‐arid ecosystem

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Predator–prey interactions are vital to ecosystem functioning but may be disrupted by climate change. We investigated a food‐web network involving three owl species over 24 years in a semi‐arid ecosystem at Bosque Fray Jorge National Park, Chile.

Binary spectral collocation method for the nonlinear Fokker-Planck equation

open access: yesJournal of Algorithms & Computational Technology
A mixed Laguerre-Legendre spectral collocation schemes is constructed for initial-boundary value problem of the nonlinear Fokker-Planck nonhomogeneous equations and the linear Fokker-Planck homogeneous equation by using the Laguerre interpolation ...

Insights into New Generalization of q-Legendre-Based Appell Polynomials: Properties and Quasi Monomiality

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, by using the zeroth-order q-Tricomi functions, the theory of three-variable q-Legendre-based Appell polynomials is introduced.

Comparative Analysis of the Efficiency of Application of Legendre Polynomials and Trigonometric Functions to the Numerical Integration of Ito Stochastic Differential Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The article is devoted to comparative analysis of the efficiency of application of Legendre polynomials and trigonometric functions to the numerical integration of Ito stochastic differential equations in the framework of the method of approximation of ...

Maximising trait evenness promotes the recovery of plant species richness in managed grasslands

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Land‐use intensification threatens biodiversity, and restoring degraded ecosystems remains challenging due to the difficulty of identifying the rules governing community assembly and dynamics. Investigating the temporal dynamics of trait‐abundance distributions (TADs) along long‐term time series offers a promising approach to disentangle the influence ...

Numerical Solution of the Fractional Partial Differential Equations by the Two-Dimensional Fractional-Order Legendre Functions

open access: yes, 2013
A numerical method is presented to obtain the approximate solutions of the fractional partial differential equations (FPDEs). The basic idea of this method is to achieve the approximate solutions in a generalized expansion form of two-dimensional ...

Some integrals and series involving the Gegenbauer polynomials and the Legendre functions on the cut (−1, 1) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this study, we use the recent findings of Cohl [On a generalization of the generating function for Gegenbauer polynomials, arXiv:1105.2735v1] and evaluate two integrals involving the Gegenbauer polynomials: and , both with Re λ>− , Re κ< , .

Phylogenetic structure of conifers in regional floras in relation to climate and environmental heterogeneity worldwide

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Despite having only about 670 species worldwide, conifers are one of the ecologically and economically most important plant groups. They have a rich fossil record and previous studies have shown that their current diversity is the result of past radiations, extinction, and dispersal events, restricting many genera to either the Northern or Southern ...
