ABSTRACT Various anthropogenic disturbances affect the succession of aquatic habitats along dendritic river networks. Bioindicator taxa, such as fish, can be used to assess the effects of these disturbances on habitat quality. Environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding offers a novel approach to complement traditional sampling and analysis of bioindicator ...

Breaking Barriers in High‐Order Spectral Methods: The Intrinsic Matrix Approach
ABSTRACT This paper introduces a unified framework in Hilbert spaces for applying high‐order differential operators in bounded domains using Chebyshev, Legendre, and Fourier spectral methods. By exploiting the banded structure of differentiation matrices and embedding boundary conditions directly into the operator through a scaling law relating ...

Müntz–Legendre Wavelet Collocation Method for Solving Fractional Riccati Equation
We propose a wavelet collocation method for solving the fractional Riccati equation, using the Müntz–Legendre wavelet basis and its associated operational matrix of fractional integration.

ABSTRACT Agricultural development is a global wide‐spread alteration to natural landscapes that can impact stream fish assemblages at multiple scales. Knowing how environmental variables affect stream fish diversity and abundance is important for the conservation and management of stream fish assemblages.

Primary Productivity and Habitat Depth Shape Developmental Mode in European Marine Gastropods
Thorson's rule suggests that marine gastropods in colder, high‐latitude regions tend to have non‐pelagic (non‐drifting) larval development. However, this study on 94 European gastropod species found that the rule disappears when examined at finer spatial scales, with temperature and phylogeny having little influence.

Multi-Fractal Spectral Analysis of the 1987 Stock Market Crash [PDF]
The multifractal model of asset returns captures the volatility persistence of many financial time series. Its multifractal spectrum computed from wavelet modulus maxima lines provides the spectrum of irregularities in the distribution of market returns ...

ABSTRACT The flow regime is considered a ‘master variable’ in riverine ecology because it directly influences stream geomorphology and biological communities. However, other environmental and anthropogenic factors have direct and synergistic effects with flow on fish diversity, complicating estimates of the flow regime's true importance. Moreover, most

Mammal defaunation leads to biotic homogenization of plant communities in tropical rainforests
Abstract Biotic homogenization is the process in which species communities become increasingly similar across different regions over time. This phenomenon has substantial ecological, evolutionary, and economic implications, primarily driven by human activities such as habitat destruction, invasive species introduction, and climate change.
