VII Claudia pia fidelis hat während ihres Aufenthaltes in der römischen Provinz Dalmatien bedeutende Spuren hinterlassen, von denen bis heute zahlreiche innschriftliche Erwähnungen der Legion zeugen. Eine Studie über das Inschriftenmaterial der Legion kann auf insgesamt 86 Steindenkmälern und 16 Ziegelstempel verweisen.

Aus der typologische Analyse der Grabsteine von Angehörigen der VII Legion wird zweierlei ersichtlich: Erstens, eine ausserordentliche Vielfalt dekorativer Elemente innerhalb eines einheitlichen Grundtypus, und zweitens eine langjärige Verwendung desselben Grundtypus, nämlich der architektonischen Rahmung der Stelen als Aedicula.
