A Topological Bound for Electroweak Vortices from Supersymmetry [PDF]
We study the connection between N=2 supersymmetry and a topological bound in a two-Higgs-doublet system having an $SU(2)\times U(1)_Y\times U(1)_{Y'}$ gauge group. We derive Bogomol'nyi equations from supersymmetry considerations showing that they hold provided certain conditions on the coupling constants, which are a consequence of the huge symmetry ...

A Profusion of Black Holes from Two to Ten Dimensions [PDF]
Black holes in several dimensions and in several theories are studied and discussed. The theories are, general relativity, Kaluza-Klein, Brans-Dicke, Lovelock gravity and string theory.

Recent results and open problems on the hydrodynamics of disordered asymmetric exclusion and zero-range processes [PDF]
This paper summarizes results and some open problems about the large-scale and long-time behavior of asymmetric, disordered exclusion and zero-range processes. These processes have randomly chosen jump rates at the sites of the underlying lattice. The interesting feature is that for suitably distributed random rates there is a phase transition where ...

A brief note on how Einstein's general relativity has influenced the development of modern differential geometry [PDF]
We briefly review a few aspects of the development of differential geometry which may be considered as being influenced by Einstein's general relativity. We focus on how Einstein's quest for a complete geometrization of matter and electromagnetism gave rise to an enormous amount of theoretical work both on physics and mathematics.

Schwinger's oscillator method, supersymmetric quantum mechanics and massless particles [PDF]
We consider the Schwinger's method of angular momentum addition using the SU(2) algebra with both a fermionic and a bosonic oscillator. We show that the total spin states obtained are: one boson singlet state and an arbitrary number of spin-1/2 states, the later ones are energy degenerate.

Renormalization Theory in the Electrostatic and Vector Potential Calculation [PDF]
In this work we attempt to show in a clear and simple manner the fundamental ideas of the Renormalization Theory. With that intention we use two well-known problems of the Physic and Engeneering undergraduate students, the calculation of the electrostatic and vector potential of a infinite line charge density and current, respectively.

Physical intuition and time-dependent generalization of the Coulomb and Biot-Savart laws [PDF]
An analysis is performed of the role played by physical intuition in expressing the electromagnetic field in terms of its sources in the time-dependent case. The conclusion is that it is dangerous to dissociate physical intuition from the mathematical description of the phenomena.

Holoprojection of Images by a Double Diffraction Process [PDF]
Three dimensional images having continuous horizontal parallax were developed by wavelength enconding of view followed by a natural decoding process of projection onto a diffractive screen. It allows for the direct criation of "holoimages" by using projected images of a real object substituting holographic images for some applications in the visual ...
