Veterinary Research Communications, 1983There is evidence of the legislative control of medicines in some countries from the earliest historical times. This did not occur in Britain for human medicines until the 16th century and even later for veterinary medicines. Controls on the safety, quality, efficacy and supply of all medicines in Britain are now merged in the Medicines Act (1968).
