Leiomyosarcoma of the rectum is a rare malignant tumor with an incidence of 0.1%, occurring more frequently in men than in women and in the fifth, sixth, and seventh decades of life. Microscopically it has a characteristic appearance of interlaced bundles of spindle cells with abundant mitosis and cellular pleomorphism.

Pulmonary leiomyosarcomas

Four cases of pulmonary leiomyosarcoma are presented. The characteristic histological features are described with specific reference to the criteria of malignancy. It is suggested that diagnosis by bronchoscopy provides insufficient material for histological grading and open lung biopsy is the diagnostic tool of choice.

Leiomyosarcoma of the pancreas

A 45-yr-old female patient was admitted with signs and symptoms of acute pancreatitis. She had no history of gallstones, alcohol, or trauma. Her CT scan was consistent with a cystic lesion of the pancreas. Because of her presenting symptoms and signs, she was initially treated as an acute pancreatitis.
