Modular Nanosensing Platforms for Tuberculosis and Beyond: Engineering Biomaterials Toward Cross‐Pathogen Diagnostic Universality

open access: yesMedComm – Biomaterials and Applications, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2025.
Modular nanosensing platforms utilize nanomaterials and functionalized interfaces to amplify trace different pathogens (like tuberculosis) antigen capture, suppress matrix interference, and enable multiplex detection. Their portability and cost‐effectiveness support rapid screening in resource‐limited settings and real‐time monitoring, advancing high ...

Antiprotozoal activity of flavonoids from Eupatorium arnottianum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Dichloromethane and ethanol extracts of Eupatorium arnottianum were evaluated for invitroleishmanicidal activity. The dichloromethane extract produced 80% and 85% of growthinhibition on both Leishmania mexicana and Leishmania amazonensis promastigotes ...

Vasculitis associated with Ehrlichia canis and Babesia canis in a dog in the Netherlands

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract This report describes a case of severe, sudden‐onset, widespread vasculitis affecting a dog concurrently infected by Ehrlichia canis and Babesia canis. Following diagnostic investigations, the dog was suspected of an immune‐mediated vasculitis, possibly triggered by E. canis, B. canis or their combination. The lesions completely resolved after

A case of canine cutaneous reactive histiocytosis over the body trunk in an adult pit bull terrier

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract The objective of this report is to present a case of canine cutaneous reactive histiocytosis with a high number of dendritic cells. A 7‐year‐old male pit bull terrier was presented with a 5‐month history of skin nodules and plaques on the trunk of varying diameter, along with corneal oedema and anterior uveitis.

Resolution of pancytopenia in a dog infected with Bartonella rochalimae in association with antibiotic therapy

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Fever, non‐regenerative anaemia and leukopenia were documented in a 7‐year‐old, entire, male Akita Inu dog. The serum biochemistry and urinalysis were unremarkable. Tests for infectious agents were negative, except for SNAP 4Dx seropositive for Anaplasma phagocytophilum or A. platys. PCR for Anaplasma spp. was negative.

Mitochondrial Dysfunction Induced by a Novel Salicylate‐Based 1,2,3‐Triazole Salt With Potent Antileishmanial Activity

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 106, Issue 6, December 2025.
A novel salicylate‐based 1,2,3‐triazole salt was synthesized and demonstrated potent and selective activity against Leishmania amazonensis. The most active compound induced mitochondrial dysfunction without hemolytic effects. In silico analyses also suggested favorable pharmacokinetic properties and oral bioavailability.

Highly divergent apicomplexan cytoskeletons provide additional models for actin biology

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 292, Issue 24, Page 6459-6480, December 2025.
Actin is a highly conserved, abundant and central molecule in eukaryotes. Apicomplexans contain some of the most sequence‐divergent actin cytoskeletons known. This divergence results in overlapping yet different biochemical properties. Here, we highlight the remarkable divergence of the actin cytoskeleton by comparing apicomplexan to classical systems,

Non‐Healing Nasolabial Ulcerated Plaque: A Clinicopathologic Challenge

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, Volume 64, Issue 12, Page 2201-2203, December 2025.
ABSTRACT A 66‐year‐old male with a history of chronic epistaxis and sinusitis presented with a non‐healing ulcer on the right nasolabial region persisting for 7 months. While denying additional symptoms, he admitted to recreational cocaine smoking. Examination revealed an ulcerated plaque with raised, pink‐edged borders extending from the right nasal ...
