Turion formation in strains of Lemna minor (6591) and Lemna turionifera (6573,A)
Aquatic Botany, 1987Abstract Lemna minor L. (strain 6591) and L. turionifera Landolt (strains 6573 and A) respond differently to culture conditions. Turions are produced and the frondsdie in strains grown in Lm medium, while those same strains continue to grow without turion formation when cultured in E medium.

Comparison of Lemna gibba and Lemna minor from the production ecological viewpoint
Aquatic Botany, 1975The production capacity and competitive ability in two duckweed species (Lemna gibba L. and L. minor L.), both originating from South Bohemian fishponds, are compared. The results of both laboratory and field experiments have proved that the relative growth rate (RGR) of Lemna gibba exceeds that of L. minor.

Bioaccumulation of cadmium and thallium in Pb-Zn tailing waste water by Lemna minor and Lemna gibba
Applied Geochemistry, 2019The present study investigated the removal ability to phytoremediate cadmium and thallium from tailing waste water of Lemna gibba and Lemna minor. These plants were separately adapted to the reactors, placed in the water and daily collected during the ...

Phytoremediation of arsenic-contaminated water by Lemna Valdiviana: An optimization study.
Chemosphere, 2019Phytoremediation is a technique in which plants are used to treat contaminated media. The objective of this study was to monitor the influence of the parameters pH, phosphate concentration, and nitrate concentration in the process of arsenic absorption ...

The Animals of the Lemna Association
Ecology, 1934This is a study of the small animals in an association of one of the smallest flowering plants, Lemna minor, in the vicinity of Ithaca, N. Y. The dominant animal forms are naturally very small, ranging in size from a fraction of a millimeter to scarcely six millimeters in length.

Chemical plant protection products (PPPs) is a major group of xenobiotics that are being released in the environment. Although the effects of individual active ingredients (a.i.) on organisms have been studied, information on those of mixtures, is ...

Morphological differentiation and geographical distribution of the Lemna gibba-lemna minor group
Aquatic Botany, 1975Abstract A 100 strains of Lemna gibba L. s.l. and 350 strains of L. minor L. s.l. have been morphologically investigated from a collection of living strains. The following characters have been considered (Table I): shape and size of root-cap, shape and size of fronds, structure of the upper surface, gibbosity, innervation, pigmentation and turion
