Abscess of the Crystalline Lens
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1943Perforating injuries of the globe frequently involve the lens by causing perforation of the anterior capsule and the production of varying stages of traumatic cataract. If infection accompanies the perforation, a purulent infiltration results in abscess of the lens.

Visual performance is influenced in many ways by the crystalline lens, too many to do justice to here. This paper will be restricted to a discussion of how the crystalline lens influences the optical quality of the image on the retina.

Crystalline lens and refractive development
Progress in Retinal and Eye Research, 2015Individual refractive errors usually change along lifespan. Most children are hyperopic in early life. This hyperopia is usually lost during growth years, leading to emmetropia in adults, but myopia also develops in children during school years or during early adult life. Those subjects who remain emmetropic are prone to have hyperopic shifts in middle

AN APPEAL TO THE GENERAL PROFESSION FOR CLOSER COOPERATION IN THE WORK OF THE OPHTHALMOLOGIST For many years I have been impressed with the conviction that ophthalmology was too remotely separated from the activities of the general profession, and that there is a need to stimulate, even though in a slight degree, a spirit of mutual interest and ...

DISCISSION OF CRYSTALLINE LENS
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1916The accounts of this operation found in the larger textbooks of ophthalmology are generally unsatisfactory, that of Fuchs being least so. Better descriptions, both as to indications for the operation and technic, are found in special works dealing with ophthalmic operations, especially in Beard's "Ophthalmic Surgery"; and the best description is given ...

[Crystalline lens "tumor immunity"].
Biulleten' eksperimental'noi biologii i meditsiny, 1982Three series of experiments on 72 rabbits have shown that lens tumor immunity is not related to the anaerobic nature of its energy metabolism and is not a consequence of lens capsule impermeability for chemical cancer genes. Ionizing radiation causes cataracts without malignancy of lens epithelial cells.
