The Influence of Annealing on the Sb Layer in the Synthesis of [001]‐Oriented Sb2Se3 Film for Photoelectrochemical Hydrogen Gas Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
[001]‐oriented Sb2Se3 film with improved crystallinity and adjusted composition is achieved via a new thermal treatment approach consisting of preliminary annealing of the Sb layer before its selenization. The findings of this work demonstrate enhanced charge carriers' transportation, a stable performance, and an improvement of H2 generation from ...

Direct Laser Ablation of 2D Material Films for Fabricating Multi‐Functional Flexible and Transparent Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable method for direct laser patterning of 2D films on transparent substrates like polycarbonate and glass is presented. This technique eliminates the need for photolithography and solvents, enabling the fabrication of functional devices like strain gauges, supercapacitors, and photodetector arrays.

The use of a syncytium model of the crystalline lens of the human eye to study the light flashes seen by astronauts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
A syncytium model to study some electrical properties of the eye is proposed in the attempt to explain the phenomenon of anomalous Light Flashes (LF) perceived by astronauts in orbit. The crystalline lens is modelled as an ellipsoidal syncytium having a variable relative dielectric constant.

Geometrical Optics Formalism to Model Contrast in Dark-Field X-ray Microscopy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, 54, 6 (2021), 2020
Dark-field X-ray microscopy is a new full-field imaging technique that nondestructively maps the structure and local strain inside deeply embedded crystalline elements in three dimensions. Placing an objective lens in the diffracted beam generates a magnified projection image of a local volume. We provide a general formalism based on geometrical optics

Advanced Materials for Biological Field‐Effect Transistors (Bio‐FETs) in Precision Healthcare and Biosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores how advanced materials enhance Bio‐FETs for precision healthcare and biosensing. It covers their working principles, surface functionalization, and ultra‐sensitive detection capabilities. The integration of flexible designs, AI, and IoT for real‐time monitoring is discussed, along with challenges like material reproducibility and ...

A new curved vitreous cutter for managing phakic retinal detachment with proliferative vitreoretinopathy

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 1998
In the presence of proliferations anteriorly, adequate excision of the vitreous base is essential. To enable a good vitreous base excision, removal of lens often becomes necessary as it may be damaged while attempting to remove peripheral vitreous.

Perfluorodecaline residue in the anterior chamber of a patient with an intact crystalline lens: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2008
Background Perfluorocarbon liquids are frequently used as intraoperative tools in vitreoretinal surgery and may occasionally be retained in the vitreous cavity.

Crystalline Lens Resorption Caused by Ciliary Body Melanoma

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncology, 2020
We report a case of a 51-year-old Caucasian female who presented with a ciliary body melanoma of the right eye leading to focal resorption of the crystalline lens and inducing posterior subcapsular cataract.

Perovskite Light‐Emitting Diodes with Quantum Wires and Nanorods

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review focuses on low‐dimensional perovskite materials and discusses their applications in light‐emitting diodes (LEDs). Special attention is given to the introduction of perovskite quantum wires and nanorods, two unique types of one‐dimensional (1D) materials, and their interesting optoelectronic properties.

Conformational catalysis of cataract-associated aggregation by interacting intermediates in a human eye lens crystallin [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Most known proteins in nature consist of multiple domains. Interactions between domains may lead to unexpected folding and misfolding phenomena. This study of human {\gamma}D-crystallin, a two-domain protein in the eye lens, revealed one such surprise: conformational catalysis of misfolding via intermolecular domain interface ''stealing''.
