Two‐Dimensional Transition Metal Dichalcogenides Properties Enhanced by Nano‐ and Micro‐Scale Shape Control

open access: yesMetalMat, Volume 3, Issue 1, March 2026.
This review explores current strategies for shaping two‐dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) beyond their planar form. It highlights how strain engineering, nanopatterning, and growth on complex substrates modulate their mechanical, optical, and electronic properties.

Regulating TGO Nucleation and Growth of MCrAlX Coatings via Femtosecond Laser Remelting: The Role of Reactive Elements in the Oxidation Resistance

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT MCrAlX coatings are widely used as bond coats in thermal barrier coating systems to protect turbine blades from high‐temperature oxidation. However, their oxidation resistance is often restricted by uncontrolled microstructures, surface roughness, and aggregation of reactive elements (REs). In this study, high‐repetition‐rate femtosecond laser

Impact of Device Architecture on Proton Detection Efficiency in 2D Perovskite Thick Film Detectors

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 15, 12 March 2026.
This work shows the role of device architecture in MeV proton detection with 2D perovskite thick (> 1 µm) films. A direct comparison between planar and stacked devices demonstrates that the stacked geometry achieves superior response by enabling more efficient charge collection and better exploitation of the active layer volume, ensuring stable and ...

Mechanistic Insights of Support Dynamics During Reactive Metal‐Support Interaction

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 5, 9 March 2026.
This study uses in situ environmental scanning transmission electron microscopy to investigate the reduction of PdO nanoparticles on ZnO and the formation of intermetallic ZnPd. Hydrogen spillover activates the ZnO support, inducing encapsulation and Zn reduction.

Exploring Terrestrial Lava Tubes as Martian Analogs (I): Multi‐Analytical Study of Mineralization Processes in Cueva del Vidrio, La Palma (Canary Islands)

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract The study of terrestrial lava tubes is essential for understanding geological processes occurring during volcanic activity on other planetary bodies, such as Mars. These processes lead to the formation of minerals analogous to those found on other planets.
