Inter-relationship of Soft Contact Lens Diameter, Base Curve Radius, and Fit [PDF]

open access: yesOptometry and Vision Science, 2017
ABSTRACTPurposeTo evaluate the inter-relationship of soft contact lens base curve radius (BC), diameter, and lens fit using a mathematical model.MethodsA spreadsheet mathematical model was used to evaluate theoretical fitting characteristics for various combinations of soft lens BC and diameter.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Aerial Projection 3D Display Based on Integral Imaging

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
We proposed an aerial projection 3D display based on integral imaging. It is composed of a projector, a lens-array holographic optical element (HOE), and two parabolic mirrors.

A Transmittance-optimized, Point-focus Fresnel Lens Solar Concentrator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The development of a point-focus Fresnel lens solar concentrator for high-temperature solar thermal energy system applications is discussed. The concentrator utilizes a transmittance-optimized, short-focal-length, dome-shaped refractive Fresnel lens as ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Packaging of Macroscopic Material Payloads: Needs, Challenges, Concepts, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review introduces a unified framework that decomposes any macroscopic packaging system into the payload, packaging material, and packaging strategy and combines them into a conceptual packaging equation: packaging strategy = payload + packaging material.

Magnification bias in the shear-ratio test: a viable mitigation strategy

open access: yes, 2019
Using the same lens galaxies, the ratios of tangential shears for different source galaxy redshifts is equal to the ratios of their corresponding angular-diameter distances.

Analysis of kinematics of tool and work piece contact during lens processing

open access: yesВесці Нацыянальнай акадэміі навук Беларусі: Серыя фізіка-тэхнічных навук, 2020
Using the first axiom of statics for equilibrium of a two forces system applied to points of a solid body, it was verified, that the pressure in the zone of contact of a tool with a lens during its abrasive processing by the grinding-free method is ...

Matching optics for Gaussian beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A system of matching optics for Gaussian beams is described. The matching optics system is positioned between a light beam emitter (such as a laser) and the input optics of a second optics system whereby the output from the light beam emitter is ...
