Observations of Time Delays in Gravitational Lenses from Intensity Fluctuations: The Coherence Function

open access: yes, 2008
Measurements of the spectrum of the fluctuations of the output current of the quadratic detector of a telescope can be used to find unresolved astronomical gravitational lenses and determine time delays between their image components.

Transparent Inorganic–Organic Bilayer Neural Electrode Array and Integration to Miniscope System for In Vivo Calcium Imaging and Electrophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the BioCLEAR system, a highly transparent and conductive neural electrode array composed of silver nanowires (AgNWs) and doped PEDOT:PSS, enabling neural recordings with minimal optical artifacts. When integrated with a GRIN lens, this cost‐effective neural implant allows simultaneous electrophysiological recording and GCaMP6‐based ...

Update on Contact Lens Treatment of Keratoconus

open access: yesTürk Oftalmoloji Dergisi, 2020
Keratoconus (KC) is a progressive disease that leads to major losses of visual quality and related quality of life. Contact lens (CL) application has a primary place and importance in the correction of the optic problems due to the disease.

Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.

Gravitational Microlensing by the MACHOs of the LMC

open access: yes, 1993
The expected microlensing events of the LMC by the MACHOs of the LMC itself are calculated and compared with analogue events by objects in the Galactic halo. The LMC matter distribution is modelled by a spherical halo and an exponential disk while a face-

Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

Generalised model-independent characterisation of strong gravitational lenses III: perturbed axisymmetric lenses

open access: yes, 2017
In galaxy-galaxy strong gravitational lensing, Einstein rings are generated when the lensing galaxy has an axisymmetric lensing potential and the source galaxy is aligned with its symmetry centre along the line of sight.
