Experimental Research on Determining the Transmittance of Lenses for Vision Correction and the Factors that Influence It

open access: yesThe Annals of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati. Fascicle IX, Metallurgy and Materials Science
The field of making optical lenses is very vast and with great applicability in several engineering fields. The research carried out in this work implied the determination of the transmittance of optical lenses of different diopters, thicknesses, with ...

Deciphering Brain Function by Miniaturized Fluorescence Microscopy in Freely Behaving Animals

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2020
Animal behavior is regulated by environmental stimuli and is shaped by the activity of neural networks, underscoring the importance of assessing the morpho-functional properties of different populations of cells in freely behaving animals.

Devil’s lenses

open access: yesOptics Express, 2007
In this paper we present a new kind of kinoform lenses in which the phase distribution is characterized by the "devil's staircase" function. The focusing properties of these fractal DOEs coined devil's lenses (DLs) are analytically studied and compared with conventional Fresnel kinoform lenses.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Isolations and Identification of bacteria present in the fluids Save contact lenses used by some students girls of the Tikrit University

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Pure Science, 2023
The number of people who wear contact lenses (CLS) has been especially increased in the past decade as an alternative to glasses, but many of them do not realize the extent of the hazards involved, and these risks Keratitis associated with microbial ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...
