The Golden Ratio of Gait Harmony: Repetitive Proportions of Repetitive Gait Phases

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
In nature, many physical and biological systems have structures showing harmonic properties. Some of them were found related to the irrational number ϕ known as the golden ratio that has important symmetric and harmonic properties. In this study, the spatiotemporal gait parameters of 25 healthy subjects were analyzed using a stereophotogrammetric ...

Predictor‐Corrector Primal‐Dual Interior Point Method for Solving Economic Dispatch Problems: A Postoptimization Analysis

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
This paper proposes a predictor‐corrector primal‐dual interior point method which introduces line search procedures (IPLS) in both the predictor and corrector steps. The Fibonacci search technique is used in the predictor step, while an Armijo line search is used in the corrector step.

On the Adjacent Cycle Derangements

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
A derangement, that is, a permutation without fixed points, of a finite set is said to be an adjacent cycle when all its cycles are formed by a consecutive set of integers. In this paper we determine enumerative properties of these permutations using analytical and bijective proofs.

On the Hyperbolic Leonardo and Hyperbolic Francois Quaternions

open access: yesJournal of New Theory, 2023
In this paper, we present a new definition, referred to as the Francois sequence, related to the Lucas-like form of the Leonardo sequence. We also introduce the hyperbolic Leonardo and hyperbolic Francois quaternions.

One-dimensional disordered photonic structures with two or more materials

open access: yes, 2018
Here we would like to discuss the light transmission modulation by periodic and disordered one dimensional (1D) photonic structures. In particular, we will present some theoretical and experimental findings highlighting the peculiar optical properties of:

The Hausdorff Dimension of the Penrose Universe

open access: yesPhysics Research International, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
Penrose fractal tiling is one of the simplest generic examples for a noncommutative space. In the present work, we determine the Hausdorff dimension corresponding to a four‐dimensional analogue of the so‐calledPenrose Universe and show how it could be used in resolving various fundamental problems in high energy physics and cosmology.
