Semiconducting Polymer Nanoparticles Enable Light‐Controlled Bidirectional Modulation of Nitric Oxide in Endothelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bimodal modulation of nitric oxide in endothelial cells is achieved by light‐sensitive polymer nanoparticles. In dark, P3HT/PEDOT:PSS NPs boost intracellular ·NO, upregulate both endothelial and induced nitric oxide synthase, and drive a metabolic shift toward glycolysis.

Thermoelectric Properties of a Family of Benzodifuranone‐Based Conjugated Copolymers in Oriented Thin Films Doped Sequentially With NDMBI‐H

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Combining high polymer orientation of n‐type copolymers by temperature rubbing and sequential doping with N‐DMBI results in a strong improvement of electrical conductivity and thermoelectric power factors reaching up to 9.8 ± 1.6 S cm−1 and 8 ± 3 µW m−1.K2, respectively.

Tree branching: Leonardo da Vinci's rule versus biomechanical models.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
This study examined Leonardo da Vinci's rule (i.e., the sum of the cross-sectional area of all tree branches above a branching point at any height is equal to the cross-sectional area of the trunk or the branch immediately below the branching point ...

Interplay of Backbone Conformation, Morphology and Thermoelectric Properties of Benzodifuranone‐Isatin Acceptor Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Modification of polymer backbone via halogenation and comonomer selection leads to conjugated backbones of different stereoelectronic properties, thin film morphologies, and electrical characteristics. The interplay of conformational isomerism, coplanarity, backbone curvature, backbone orientation, and ordering in thin films, electrical conductivity ...

Generalized Horadam-Leonardo Numbers and Polynomials

open access: yesAsian Journal of Advanced Research and Reports, 2023
In this study, we define and investigate some linear third order polynomials called the generalized Horadam-Leonardo polynomials (with its two special cases, namely), (r, s)-Horadam-Leonardo and (r, s)-Horadam-Leonardo-Lucas polynomials. We give Binet’s formulas, generating functions, Simson formulas, and the sumformulas for these polynomial sequences.

Tightness and efficiency of irreducible automorphisms of handlebodies

open access: yes, 2009
Among (isotopy classes of) automorphisms of handlebodies those called irreducible (or generic) are the most interesting, analogues of pseudo-Anosov automorphisms of surfaces.

Crater Observing Bioinspired Rolling Articulator (COBRA)

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Crater Observing Bio‐inspired Rolling Articulator (COBRA) is a modular, snake‐inspired robot that addresses the mobility challenges of extraterrestrial exploration sites such as Shackleton Crater. Incorporating snake‐like gaits and tumbling locomotion, COBRA navigates both uneven surfaces and steep crater walls.

Avatar actors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this text I wish to discuss, as well as illustrate through pictorial examples, how the Live Visuals of three dimensional online virtual worlds may be leading us into participatory and collaborative Play states during which we appear to become the ...

Thermometric Based‐Microswimmers with Chemical and Optical Engines

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Temperature sensing at small scales is typically performed using passive luminescent particles. Here, an alternative approach is demonstrated by integrating upconversion thermometry into self‐propelled microswimmers powered by chemical fuels or light. This strategy offers a step toward dynamic thermal sensing at the microscale, relevant to both lab‐on ...
