Evolution of helotialean fungi (Leotiomycetes, Pezizomycotina): A nuclear rDNA phylogeny

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2006
The highly divergent characters of morphology, ecology, and biology in the Helotiales make it one of the most problematic groups in traditional classification and molecular phylogeny. Sequences of three rDNA regions, SSU, LSU, and 5.8S rDNA, were generated for 50 helotialean fungi, representing 11 out of 13 families in the current classification.

An updated multigene phylogeny of Leotiomycetes

Persoonia
Fig. S1. ML tree expanded from Fig. 1. The labels for taxa include the voucher specimen from which the sequences were obtained, the type status of the specimen (TypeSpecies = a specimen identified as the type for that genus; exTypeSpecimen = the type ...

Biosynthesis of Cytosporones in Leotiomycetous Filamentous Fungi

Journal of the American Chemical Society
Polyketides with the isochroman-3-one pharmacophore are rare among fungal natural products as their biosynthesis requires an unorthodox S-type aromatic ring cyclization. Genome mining uncovered a conserved gene cluster in select leotiomycetous fungi that encodes the biosynthesis of cytosporones, including isochroman-3-one congeners.

Toward a phylogenetic classification of the Leotiomycetes based on rDNA data

Mycologia, 2006
Phylogenetic relationships of one of the largest nonlichen-forming ascomycetous groups, the Leotiomycetes, were inferred from genes encoding three rDNA regions (SSU+LSU+5.8S rDNA). A dataset was prepared with rDNA sequences data from 108 isolates, among which we sampled 85 taxa representing four orders and 16 families in the Leotiomycetes.

Disentangling the identity of the genus Biatorellina (Leotiomycetes, Ascomycota)

Phytotaxa, 2019
The monotypic genus Biatorellina is currently considered a taxonomic synonym of Tryblidiopsis but has an obscure and complicated history. During the revision of the genus Tympanis a syntype of Biatorellina buchsii was fortuitously found and reviewed. Initially our revision led to the hypothesis that B. buchsii could be conspecific with Tympanis confusa.

The molecular phylogeny of aquatic hyphomycetes with affinity to the Leotiomycetes

Fungal Biology, 2013
Aquatic hyphomycetes play a key role in decomposition of submerged organic matter and stream ecosystem functioning. We examined the phylogenetic relationships among various genera of aquatic hyphomycetes belonging to the Leotiomycetes (Ascomycota) using sequences of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit (LSU) regions of rDNA generated ...

Lygus lineolaris (Heteroptera: Miridae) and Botrytis cinerea (Ascomycota: Leotiomycetes) Interaction Does Not Increase Faba Bean Seed Damage

Journal of entomological science, 2021
Interactions between herbivorous insects, plant pathogenic fungi, and their host plants are of increasing interest in agricultural and applied ecological contexts.

Curviclavula, a new genus of anamorphic Helotiales (Leotiomycetes) isolated from air

Mycological Progress, 2015
A new genus Curviclavula, with C. anemophila as the type species, is established to accommodate a hyphomycetous anamorph isolated from a culturable air sample collected outdoors in New Mexico, USA. The fungus is morphologically distinct in having 1–5 times dichotomously branched conidiophores and integrated, terminal or intercalary, indeterminate ...
